Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

Pours to the most gorgeous bronze/copper/gold color imaginable. It’s very nice. The medium white head disapated to a dishwater looking head with excellent lacing. Yet, it still gleans a 5 on appearance. It’s just that pretty. The aroma is huge. Floral, perfume, caramel, spices. The aroma is well mixed for what it is and it doesn’t put me off like most floral/perfumey beers. The flavor is also quite good. Flowers, caramel malts, candi sugar, lemongrass, also a banana-bread-like quality. The palate is good. Slightly warming with a medium mouthfeel. I wonder if they’ve changed the recipe since it’s inception, because I think this one’s quite better than a 3.37.

more goodness from the tractor trailer of tripels that HOPDOG brought to eric’s, a floral/perfume-like aroma coming off a pale cloudy yellow body with no head. a slightly sour apple flavor mixed with sweet caramels and some citrus. mouthfeel waas slightly warming, but the abv wasnt evident in the taste. body was also a bit on the thin side. not a big league tripel.

Bottle from hopdg at the Tripel Fest. Yellow, white head, hazy. Tart malt aroma. Subtle tart malty dry flavor. Not very complex.

12 oz bottle - Pours amber cloudy with a short white head. Aroma is of grapes, caramel malts, and just a touch of hops. Flavor comes acrossed quite sweet. Grapes, banannas, some sweet caramel malts and a touch of spice. On the palate this is medium bodied and the alcohol can be found with the warmth of each sip. Not bad.

Thanks to Jeremy (jgb9348) for giving me this beer! Pours a hazy orange/amber color with a small head that laces fairly well around the glass. Sweet aroma, with grapes, caramel, and a hint of sugar. Sweet, sugary taste with a little bit of alcohol that rolls off your tongue. Again, the grapes. Some malts as well. Overall well balanced and a decent tripel in my opinion.

Pours amber and oily. Smells of sugar, straw and caramel. Taste is slightly bitter with sugar, cognac, and raisins shining through. Slightly metallic on the finish. Not bad, but not what I’ve come to expect of trippel.

Draft at New Holland. Light amber hue with average frothy white head. Aroma was complex of malt, citrus and banana. Medium body. Heavy sweet flavor with smal alcohol bite finish. Above average brew.
