Commercial Description:
Since the early 1600's, the Dutch have attempted to breed a pure black tulip. Many have tried and a few have come close...but none have succeeded. Call it the Holy Grail of the tulip world. In honor of this elusive flower we have brewed this special elixir. We have combined the finest Belgian malt, rare European hops, an authentic Belgian yeast and finally, the brew is dusted with tulip petals. The resulting blend is nothing less than magical.

bottle - Pours lightly hazy yellow with a moderate sized white head. The aroma is of malt and yeast with banana notes. The flavor is of sweet malt with some citrus notes and some mild hops in a lightly dry finish. It’s tasty and works well for a tripel without being a standout example of the style.

This pours a straw yellow with delicate white head. It’s aroma is sweet and strong. The flavor lighter than expected, but still very fruity and refreshing. Great offering from a great brewer. Cheers!

On tap at the New Holland Brew Pub. Arrived at table with a good amount of thick white head. Goes down smooth, a high gravity series beer. Certainly worth a try.

Golden pour with a big white head that dissipates. Sweet, honey aroma with bananas and bubble gum. Flavor is banana and a bit of tartness. The sweetness is subdued and well-done. Finish has some honey and clove.

Hazy orange-straw body with moderate carbonation and a medium frothy white head that left thick lace. Sweet aroma of lightly toasted pale malt, honey, mild floral esters, bubble gum, and alcohol. Considerably tart, lemony flavor with white wine qualities. Fairly sweet for a tripel with moderate bitterness and some heat. Medium body with some sticky residual sweetness, although the tartness cleans that up a bit. This beer is wild but refreshing, stylish, and interesting.

Bottle. Pours an orange golden body with a white head. Sweet malty caramel, hints of Belgian fruits, alcohol latent. Finishes lightly zesty with some spices.

Thanks to demitriustown for the bonus bottle. Pours a warm golden color from the bomber with white head. Smells immediately like a skunky pilsner, but once this one settles down it has the aroma of red apples. Tastes like fermented apple cider with a fair helping of confectioners sugar and yeast. Not bad, but a bit off balance.

Courtesy redlight. Pours a clear, light golden color with a minimal, wispy film, and no lacing whatsoever. The aroma shows saccharine, candy sugar malts with hints of bubblegum, light fruits, and weird, vegetal notes. The flavor shows more of the same, strange floral and sour vegetal elements along with the overly sweet, sugary malts and bready yeast. The palate is syrupy and cloying, like most tripels are. Wow, do I hate all but the elite examples of this style.
