I dont know if this bottle is just old or what, but its not good. Aroma is weak and lightly smells of nuts and caramel. Pours a reddish amber with little head. Taste is like a sweet caramel and nut tea......heavy on the tea. Palate is a bit thin and watery. Could be an old bottle but I’m thinking I probably wont be trying any fresh bottles. Pour.

Clear coppery amber pour...moderate off white head that lingers but briefly. Nose is sweet caramel/toffee, dark fruit, sweet malt, alcohol. Flavors are also predominantly sweet in profile...dark fruit, alcohol, caramel/toffee, roasted sweet malt, light hop bitterness in the background. Decent example of the style, but kind of middle of the road enough that it’s tough to get excited by it to any extent.

Cloudy brown pour with a thin beige head. Malty, sugary aroma. Flavor is lightly sweet with a rich maltiness and a very thin hop profile. Smooth and good.

Copper with a medium tan head. Aroma of Munich and sweet malts, alcohol and mild dough. Tastes a bit too much like an Oktoberfest to me. Munich malts, nuts, mild caramel and alcohol. Finish is mildly dry and metallic with some cola like qualities.

22 oz. Brown/amber pour, very minimal off white head. Some sweet aromas, malt, caramel. Taste is some sweet malt, caramel, toffee, yellow raisin. Body is a little thin, the flavors are a bit subdued from this also. Finish is a little lingering sweetness. Overall just a little wishy washy. Not bad but kind of average. I believe there is some age on this since the white caps as far as I know have been retired for a while now. A drinkable example of the style, but not outstanding.

Stupid deleted ratings. 22oz bottle, no date from General Gao--thanks Colin. Pours a clear copper with a one finger beige head, slowly fading to a thick ring and film. Aroma of dirty caramel and toffee with some green and fall leaves mixed in. Flavor adds a decaying grain tang and light green hops with a little bit of raisin sweetness. the finish is semi-dry with bitterness peaking around a 2. Low to moderate carbonation with a medium body. Not too bad, but I would not necessarily buy this one again.
