Dark amber with a yellow head. Has the aroma of freshly boiled wort. Flavor has lots of caramel and sugar. It is almost as though the beer is not quite finished in production. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Nov 22, 2006 Bomber. Pour is dark red/brown mix with minimal head. In fact, the head is just a thin ring around the glass. Aroma mainly caramel toffee. Taste is rich, dessert like, but a slightly metallic finish. I’ve had better and am not super impressed. It makes sense that this is 20th percentile. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Nov 17, 2006 This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated caramel brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty and sweet. The mildly vinous mouth feel was smooth at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish sweet aftertaste. The strong flavor contained notes of sweet caramel and brown malt goodness. An extremely yummy brew that I would certainly buy again. This is a great Doppelbock! Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 8, 2006 A cloudy, dark reddish, brown pour with a small light tan head that quickly departed, leaving no signs of its presence. A sweet malt flavor was lightly balanced with hops that did not take charge. The flavor was almost mouth filling but not full bodied. It left a slight tinny aftertaste. Medium to light bodied with decent carbonation. Bits of fruit, caramel and chocolate in flavor, light bitterness. Decently done if not outstanding. xproudfoot (729), Paleolithic, Pennsylvania, USA
