This bottled brew from a bottle shop poured a small sized head of foamy finely sized tan colored bubbles that was mostly diminishing and left behind a softly carbonated caramel brown colored body. The mild aroma was malty and sweet. The mildly vinous mouth feel was smooth at the start and mediumly tingly at the finish sweet aftertaste. The strong flavor contained notes of sweet caramel and brown malt goodness. An extremely yummy brew that I would certainly buy again. This is a great Doppelbock!

A dark caramel brown beer that pours smooth with a nice wheat colored head. Nice and sweet with a strong raisen finish. A nice beer to finish a tough day.

pours clear dark red with a small fizzy off-white head. Aroma is complex, heavy malt, cookies, carmel, leather, and hints of dark fruits and some vinilla esters. Flavor starts well balanced with nice carmel flavors, finishes a bit more sweet with a clean short finish. medium bodied, creamy softly carbonated, very nice. Every sip has me begging for more NICE!

Tawny mahogany, hey that rhymes! More brown in the center and very thick and hazed in a wonderful deep glow. Soft slimmer capping of stained yellow foam sits atop to stay briefly leaving an always present skim and collaring. Only a few small splotches and globs of lace stick low in the glass. Aroma is light but hefty of matly goodness carrying gooey thick caramel candy, molasses, nuts, and toffee notes mixing with a bit of figgy raisin paste fruityness. Taste is quite solid if not more than that. Very substantial malting here. Favorably round, creamy and nearly full in the mouth. The finish is the only downfall as it petters out with a weakened pause of toffee and some gooey left over cloying of dark fruity jelly and caramel. Overall though this makes the cut for a good dopplebock with solid molasses, toffee, caramel, dark fruity, chewy, bready goodness. I quite like it. Feel is smooth and semi chewy with one soft silky touch as it goes down. Again the only thing is a need for an extra boost in the finish and perhaps a bit more roasty/toasty aspects and notes to its character. Solid and drinkable by many refills of the pint glass. Its kinda a bummer that its a bit pricey.

Bottle.-Brown, medium lightly tanned top. Solid, full- malty aroma, good depth, gentle fruity character. Medium-full bodied, very clean work. Fruity, malty. Very smooth no rough dry alcohol here. Very well made strong lager that seems often is underappreciated here.

Malty sweet, floral hoppy aroma with caramel. Hops, tangerine, black pepper, tangy, tannic, high gravity. Mouthy, very mouthy. Finishes out with a kick. A fairly big beer.

(05.13.06) Sampled at DiCarlo’s Spring beer tasting event. Bottle. Poured clear brown amber with medium white head. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt aroma. Medium-to-full bodied dopplebock that starts with light malt sweetness and malty and hoppy flavors. Finished with light hop flavor. On the hoppy side, this drinkable beer could benefit from some aging to smooth out the flavors.

22 oz bottle, 2006 version: dark red-orange with a small off tan head that diminishes into a thin film. Sweet, candi sugar aroma with raisins, ripe plums, cherry yoghurt and blueberries. Gritty, thick palate – fleshy red apples, darkly toasted rye malts and lightly toasted oak. A complex depth of flavours that ends up on the earthy side right along side of the fruits and underlying crisp hops. Very nice.
