Commercial Description:
A custom blend never to be replicated, Blue Sunday celebrated our “11 Years in Beer” in grand fashion. It has a surprisingly crisp body with tart, cherry-like notes and a malty sweetness in its finish.

(750ml bottle, thanks ryan) Fluffy large beige head atop clear dark brown body. Aroma is medium sweet, sour cherry, some wood, light butterscotch. Taste is moderately sweet, sour cherry, caramel, and light wood that gets stronger in the aftertaste. Effervescent medium body.

Bottle shared by ryan on 7/10/08: Pours a transparent dark copper with orange hues and a large fizzy clingy-lacing light tan head. Aroma of mild caramel sweetness with a touch of sour cherries and woody oak. Starts effervescent and earthy semi-sweet with a nice balance of dry tartness and fresh oak before a drier crisp finish. A decent sour ale.

Pours dark brown with a huge, billowing tan head, way overcarbonated. Funky lactic notes in the nose, dusty, minerally, salty and lactic wood, nut and bread crust as well. Flavor is more centered on this semi-sweet but lactic bread crust and nut malt flavor, with a light acidity and almost funky-sourness throughout, making it seem like the sourness is more due to an infection than anything intentional, but this is the same quality that I absolutely hated about New Holland Moxie. This is better than Moxie, but I’m still not digging it.

Corked bottle from Brewpub.. Poured dark brown color with a large fizzy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy sweet citrus earthy aroma. Medium body with a sticky texture. Medium sweet malty flavor with a moderate sweet & sour finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where met with a beer that may need some age to blend and balance.

Poured hazy with the color of cherry wood and a huge head that went over the glass and onto the floor. The aroma was tart and woody like. Smoke/phenolic notes. Tart flavor with a light cherry taste. Again seems to have some wood in it. Light body.

Sampled during Minnesota first annual Sourfest and shared by BDR. Pours a semi-clear dark brown amber brew with a thin light tan head that quickly dissipates to a fine film top. Aroma of tart molasses, some cherry, a little fruitcake, and some yeast funk. Taste is medium to full bodied, with flavored of smoked dark malt, yeast, a little tropical fruit and tart citrus. Finish is semi-dry and lightly tart with a quick disappearing yeast aftertaste. Plenty of carbonation on this brew.

Thanks to Andrew for opening this! Poured murky brown with a sticky, tall, well-retained cap of beige head. The aroma picked up dry, tart cherry and raspberry skins over toasted oak and marshmallows.. pear skins and green apple on the back.. OK, but very odd. The flavor had fruit skins (green apple and apricot) that were tart but not necessarily sour.. more woody notes toward the back (sour oak came through).. dry, spicy, lightly tart finish. About medium-bodied on the palate with OK balance.. very weird overall and I wouldn’t reach for it again.

Courtesy of BDR. Dark brown color with no head. Aroma of molasses. Lots of dry cherry and sweet malt flavor. A little light oak and vanilla round it out. Heavily carbonated.
