Commercial Description:
Robust in character yet smooth in delivery, Cabin Fever is a roasty brown ale and a hearty, comforting companion for long, mind-bending winters. Its rye, roast and raisin notes play off a subtle caramel sweetness and culminate in a dry finish. Excellent with roasts, stews, caramelized onions and snowfall.

Bottled at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Nut brown, small head. Evident chocolate aroma. Fairly sweet with medium body and somewhat mushy mouthfeel. Well roasted with notes of cocoa and molasses. Low bitterness. Warming, like hot chocolate, but a bit raw and syrupy.

12oz bottle. Small tan head atop clear dark brown body. Aroma is moderately sweet, chocolate, nut, coffee/roast, some toffee/caramel, cherry. Taste is moderately sweet, chocolate, coffee, nut, some caramel, roast, rye spiciness. Medium body, low carbonation. A lot of flavors in here, seems like it’s trying to do a bit too much. Also a bit too sweet.

12oz bottle. Poured a dark, dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of toasted and burnt malts, caramel, and light chocolate. Tastes of caramel, chocolate, and a light nuttiness.

I like the looks of the body, a clear, deep reddish brown. Too bad the tan head’s so small. Not a bad aroma, lightly roasted malt, nuts, and dark caramel. Flavor’s okay, pretty much reflecting the nose with a touch of spiciness added. Sessionable, but so are a lot of brews.

Brown color with a modest tan head. Big malt aromas. Scents of toasted bread and touch of roasted malt along with some herbal hops in the background. Mix of light fruit and toasted malt in the flavors. Apricots and raisins in a granola bar sort of way. Somewhat acidic in the finish and linger with some hints of black malt and grassy hops. More a winter ale than a brown, but as a brown it is one of the better ones.

Bottle From Rivers Bend. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting and had good lacing. Good toasted malty aroma. Medium body with soft carbonation. Moderate well balanced toasted malty flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good brew.

Bottle. Very deep brown pour with 1-finger khaki head. Aroma is nuts, roasty grainy malt, brown sugar, toffee. Tastes brown sugary, not too sweet, with a liquid Wheaties flavor, prominent nuts, and a fairly rich palate. This is a very nice brown ale that I’d have no problem keeping year round in the DLBF.

Bottle and served in standard pint glass: Deep brown with a fading fizzy beige head and some lace. The aroma has notes of walnut, coffee, leather, herbal hop, light prune, and burnt toast. The flavor is rather straight forward with moderate toasted malt and nutty profile with some coffee and hop bitterness in the background. A hint of lacto sourness found towards the finish. The mouth feel starts lively but lacks refreshment, watery as well. A very average beer at best, seems to miss the point.
