New Holland Cartagena’s Coffee Ale

Draft sample at brewpub. Poured clear dark brown color with an average frothy brown head that was mostly lasting with good lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted coffee and sweet malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted coffee bittersweet flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.

On tap at the New Holland brewpub. Black with a thin tan head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malt and milk sugar. Taste pretty much mimics the aroma, lots of coffee with a nice sweet malt and milk sugar backbone. Smooth and tasty with a mild dry finish that’s accented nicely by the milk sugars.
