afireinside96 (807), Mountville, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2009 22oz bottle shared by TheCaptain. Thanks Mark. Very dark ruby red color with a creamy beige head. Huge gusts of oak and vanilla waft up from the glass. The taste has the aforementioned oak and vanilla along with some toffee and bourbon. Nicely balanced. Beer3irty (4), Michigan, USA does not count May 20, 2009 Overall I would call this a good beer but not great. I think the label combined with the anticipation of drinking this beer left me with somewhat of an unfulfilled expectation.
I think one impediment of rating this beer is the temputaure at which it was served. As the beer warms it releases a richer nose profile much like walking from thru the front door of the flower shoppe and then going into the flower warehouse. As the beer warms below my nose as I type report the sweet malty tones are more and more pronounced with a delightful effect to my nasal passages.
I would try this beer again but make sure that it was served at a better temp - like 65 or so.
Prost!

MichMicro4x (4), Kalamazoo, Michigan, USA does not count May 12, 2009 Probably one of the best strong ales I’ve ever tried. Pours a very dark colour and contains a mouthful of dark roasty flavours. Can really taste the bourbon on your lips but doesn’t harsh you away. A great beer for after dinner! blklab2007 (932), Connecticut, USA May 11, 2009 Updated: Aug 26, 2009bottle poured a dark red brown in color with a thin frothy dark tan head that retained well. aroma has nutty malt, caramel, bourbon, light barrel wood, and vanilla. medium light mouth feel with average carbonation. flavor has nice bourbon hits, barrel, brown malt, light hop bitterness, and some oats. nice and creamy but well malted. this really benefited from the barrel aging both in flavor and texture. Blaketj80 (78), Oklahoma, USA May 4, 2009 Smells malty with notes of roasted barley and chocolate malt. Pours dark, but not exceptional with thin white head. Taste is nicely balance with coffee, carmel, chocolate, and oak. Could use a little more body, but enjoyable over all. tarheels86 (703), Washington DC, USA May 4, 2009 Bottle from Raleigh WBF. Thought I tried the oak aged version (listed separately on this site), but seems like Dragon’s Milk is always oak aged so I’m rating this version. Pours a dark brown with some ruby highlights topped by a thin, creamy, tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate (perhaps more so than any other beer I’ve rated to date), Bailey’s Irish Cream, bourbon, oak. Taste is similar with loads of creamy milk chocolate, a spicy bourbon alcohol bite, vanilla ice cream, and a dry, oaky finish. Really just an awesome beer. markwise (1132), 15 Minutes from Kuhnhenn in, Florida, USA May 3, 2009 2008 bottle; thanks kiefdog for the share. Pours dark cola brown with foamy off-white head. Nose is roast, chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, and oaky excellence. Flavor is decadent: chocolate, vanilla, bourbon, roast, lingering dark sweetness- borderline dark fruit with lingering vanilla. Thoroughly enjoyable medium-bodied stout.
