The aroma was malty, toasty and had a bit of vanilla. The flavor was sour, malty and toasty with a long toasty vanilla finish. The body was moderately thick and creamy. Earlier Rating: 3/30/2008 Total Score: 3.7 Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized creamy tan head that faded quickly. The aroma was sweet and bitter with light roasty malts and a moderate note of vanilla. The flavor was strong vanilla, roasty malts, bitter, tangy and vaguely fruity. Complex but a bit odd. The finish was roasty vanilla. The body was moderately creamy. Interesting. HolidayBeerGuy (50), Detroit, Michigan, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Apr 7, 2009 We were initially mistaken in thinking that this was a stout. Our mistake, nonetheless, we were very impressed with the overall quality and taste. Easy to drink with hints of toffee and oak. A definite favorite in my minimal collection. thefederalist (226), Jonesboro, Arkansas, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 8/20 | Apr 7, 2009 Bottle. Pours dark brown, no carbonation. Aroma is complex and of cocoa, vanilla, coconut, earth and wood. Flavor is abrasively sweet, as if lactose was added to the grist (I can only assume from the name). Becomes repulsive as it warms. Body is thick and creamy. Either this has lactose in it or bottle conditioning stalled. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA
