| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Oct 10, 2008 Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Very dark brown color (some garnet) with a fine, high beige head. Aromas of dark roast malt and chocolate? Also dark stone fruit. Medium plus body with near creamy carbonation. A mild ale partaking of some aspects of stout and porter - like I think I taste coffee. There’s a touch of wood. Finishes towards astringent, with very decent bitter to counteract the malt. Wood seems to bite a bit as time goes on. tzakiel (38), Virginia, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Sep 29, 2008 A triumph. A masterpiece of oaky stout. Wonderfully smooth and creamy stout. Perhaps a bit thin tasting, like an english style, just a masterpiece. KnN (716), Greenbelt, Maryland, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Poured a nice deep ruby color with a fairly thin off-white head. Aroma was alcohol and caramel, with some malt undertones. Flavor was surprisingly mild. This was a very easy drinker, but the flavor profile was a bit limited. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Sep 28, 2008 Bottled. A deep red beer with a slight haze under a beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of alcohol, over ripe fruit, and caramel, and so is the flavor. greenhorn1 (460), Mission Viejo, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2008 22 oz bottle. Aroma is sweet, with hints of chocolate. Pours almost black with a very thin brown head. Flavor is fairly complex, chocolate, roasted malts, vanilla, and subtle undertones of oak. Alcohol is noticeable in the finish, but not in a negative way. There was also a slight metallic taste in the finish that made the experience a bit dissapointing. nqualls (1429), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 18/20 | Sep 25, 2008 Bottle. Poured a dark mahogany with a sparse beige head that quickly disappeared. Aroma of oak vanilla and chocolate. Flavor was chocolate, sweet malt and oak. Body was too weak for this beer, but otherwise it is a masterpiece. Snojerk321 (1937), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 15, 2008 22oz bottle. Pours deep brown with a small fizzy beige head, 0 lacing. Nose was big on chocolate, oak, dark fruits and maybe a bit of smoke. Flavor held a bit of booze, oak, and chocolate. A was not overly impressed with this brew after all the hype.
