Aroma of vanilla, chocolate, coffee and licorice. Tastes of chocolate and coffee. Very creamy feel. This is a big beer and is is deserving of special occasions. More of a fall/winter beer. Very complex flavors so glad I was drinking from the big bottle. Has a good kick to it. Overall very good beer - will have to revisit during the cold weather season. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2008 Assertive aroma of dark fruit, oak, and roasted malt. Stout-like in color with a beautiful khaki head. Flavor is a bit sweet for me but warms the belly nicely. Thin body improves the drinkability. Thanks to polomagnifico for the bottle!!! kibble48 (14), Kettering, Ohio, USA

A good cold day beer, not heavy and hot but it is soothing and warming to the stomach. Great flavors and a finish. Excellent on tap and in bottle. dmtroyer (409), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 28, 2008 22oz. Poured close to black with a big tan head. Aroma is pretty huge, loads of raisin, butterscotch and mocha. Taste is similar, throwing in some wine-like dark fruit and vanilla from the oak. This is definitely unusual, or unique, and it sat well with me. It has the intensity and complexity of flavors of an imperial stout with some decent carbonation but without the heavy body or viscosity to drag you down. I can see this being an imperial stout drinker’s summer beer. I am especially fond of the fig, walnut, and bourbon flavors. It is warming, but not hot, and it is not particularly heavy. I had it on draught on a hot day, seated outside, and it was just fine. juiceisloose (667), Windermere, Florida, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 24, 2008 Courtesy Dragonstout. This one poured a deep brown color with a small tan head that left minimal lacing behind. The aroma is of dark chocolate, bourbon, roasted malts, and some oaky smells as well. The flavor is much the same with the chocolate and roasted malts up front with some hop bitterness on the backend. The vanilla and oak flavors add balance and depth. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and creamy that is easy drinking with a dry, warming finish from the oak and alcohol. This one is really well done, and I hope to try it again. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jun 24, 2008 22 oz. bottle. Dark brown color. Thin, light tan head. Fades very quickly. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, coffee. Thin body, but not lacking for flavor. Nice balance of vanilla, dark fruits, some coffee cake. Smooth, creamy finish with tons of boozy alcohol. Nice beer, very easy to drink. radiomgb (1957), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Jun 23, 2008 Dark brown in colour, lingering brown coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is of toffee, fruit, quite sweet, chocolate, biscuits and alcohol. The flavour has some vanilla, chocolate, rich toffee cookies, alcohol and dark fruits. Alcoholic and rather sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes thin leaving the alcohol to become more pronounced.
Too much alcohol heat came through in this for my liking. I grew tired of it rather quickly.
