Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

FAIL!!! Bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville (I think). Cola brown pour with faint lacing and no head. Aroma of cream, coffee, chocolate and brown sugar. So far so good. Big oakiness in the taste, a hint of whisky, and definite notes of... rotting cabbage! Fairly strong too. Foul, and in a bad way. Drain pour today... I’ll re-rate next year’s batch.

22 oz. brown bomber bottle. No freshness date seen. Weak pfftt when opened. Poured out a deep brown color, with red highlights around the edges. Weak, sticky head. Very little carbonation. Aromas are of oak barrels, burnt sugar, Grandma’s root cellar. Flavors are burnt sugar, dank basement, funky oak barrel. Medium mouthfeel, but thin body. OK to try...once.

Bottle @ Coles Michigan Beer Tasting. Best of the night. Pours a deep cola brown. Aromas of bourbon, vanilla & oak. Taste is boozy bourbony, hints of sweeter malts, vanilla & oak woodiness. Medium bodied with slight alcohol tingle that lingers a bit. Good beer

2008-05-30. Dark brown body with a waifish tan head (3+). Boozy first impression, but the malty aroma shows some interesting nuances once you get past the alcohol. (7+) Sweetish flavour, caramel notes, mild malt throughout, very lightly astringent in the finish. (7+) Average bodied palate seems a touch light for it. Ok. On draft at Savor in DC (5/17/08). Tastes of candied sugar, almost like a belgian. The alcohol is very apparent. I wasn’t too overwhelmed with this but I’m not too familiar with english strongs.

22oz. bomber, pours a cola brown with a two finger tan head that drifts down to a whisp, minimal lacing. Aroma is initially cola-like, but then milk chocolate, dark fruits and some woodiness. Flavor is a bit thin, but there is some milk chocolate, wood and maybe molasses. Not overly complex or anything, and somewhat bland in flavor.

Great beer coming on the rebound from a bad one. Very creamy mouth. Pours near black with ruby shinethrough. Aroma is of chocolate coffee. Taste...very creamy. Hangs around the mouth with a bitterness and woody flavor. Nice bitter chocolate aftertaste.
