May 22, 2008 Oh Yeah. Black with small rocky off white head. Light roast malt aroma with hints of vanilla and coffee. Nice creamy mouthfeel with big roasty, vanilla, coffee and wood flavors. Dry finish with some bourbon notes and alchohol warming. Fantastic easy drinking strong stout pushing an imperial.

May 19, 2008 Aroma of coffee, vanilla, smoke, spice and wood. Dark deep brown hue with a tan mostly diminishing head. Flavor is of smoke, spice, clove, molasses, and wood. Full bodied and oily soft. Thick and cloying. Ok but kind of an off spice flavor.

May 18, 2008 Dark black body with a small creamy tan head. Sweet roasted malt, light caramel and coffee hints. Sweet coffee, roasted malt and light creamy caramel, hints of vanilla and very faint oak. Medium body with moderate carbonation.

May 18, 2008 Sampled at the Savor DC event. Pours a watery, nearly opaque black with a thin white head. Mild aroma of vanilla and oak. Flavor has more roasted malts, toast and strong whiskey. Flat and a bit oily on the palate. The beer was really good, but it was pair with Maytag blue cheese and didn’t stand up to the pairing.

May 17, 2008 Very dark pour with reddish edges. Aromas are deep, nearly sour, with a sweet vanilla / chocolate malt smell layered on top. The palate of the beer is pretty aggressive, with some alcohol showing through. Raisins, chicory, and vanilla don’t completely mesh on the tongue. This was a miss for me, though the flavors were strong and true.

May 15, 2008 Wow. This brew poured dark black with the slightest hint of a creamy caramel head. The nose was smoky barley, and the palate..ah, the palate. Hardwoods, coffee, licorice, smoke, vanilla toward the back of the tongue, and just a bit of butterscotch. Amazing.

May 3, 2008 I really enjoyed the oak flavor, mainly because i like to eat oak trees. No, seriously the palate was 非常好喝 and i really enjoyed the coffee like aftertaste.

May 3, 2008 Easily one of the best beers I’ve had in the last year or more. Really great aroma. Flavor has more oak in it which I liked. I spent $14 for the bottle and while I think that is high it was worth it this night.
