waolsen (1220), Littleton, Colorado, USA Nov 15, 2007 bottle. brown with thin soapy head. very sweet aroma of perfume hops, dark fruit, sugar and malts. coffee. chocolate. light malts but they are rich. funky. bourbon barrel. mistersinalin (367), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Nov 10, 2007 This is a fabulous winter beer. The vanilla and carmel flavors come through perfectly. I would like to have a lot more of this. tomthompson89 (1459), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2007 First new holland product. Lovely beer had at beer bistro over a nice brunch.i get alot of vanilla on the nose and a bit of bourbon as well, not alot of carbonation, velvety mouthfeel, has many aspects as has been said before of a milk stout. Really nice beer MikeF (528), Cleveland, Ohio, USA Nov 3, 2007 Smooth oak rich malt aroma. Small fleeting tan head. The flavor is a prefect blending of sweet malt, toasted malt, oak, and just the right amount of bourbon. Really a masterwork in terms of blending diverse flavors. Currently one of my favorite beers. Grandpa (325), Verona, New York, USA Oct 29, 2007 It poured black and opaque with a small, quickly fading, tan head. The first impression was a mid-tongue sweetness followed by a complex mix of flavors, not all of them pleasant, that were difficult to identify inindividually. Not much carbonation. The hops come in late and I was left with a sour aftertaste. oakbluff (298), Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada Oct 27, 2007 Pours very dark brown, with a rich two finger head. Nose is of licorice and wood. Taste- bourbon flavour is quite pronounced, along with the oak. Quite hoppy as well. Sweet iniitially, but that melds into more of a hotness from the booze. Finish is dry and woody. Interesting beer. Carbonation is on the low end. migkix (2), Evanston, Illinois, USA does not count Oct 21, 2007 It almost looks dark as a stout. Very strong flavors. It has an high ABV but not overwhelming taste of it. richlikebeer (823), Easton, Pennsylvania, USA Oct 21, 2007 sweet malty aroma, wood, grass, hay, and bourbon. flavor pretty much the same...a very sweet beer with a hint of alcohol and the strong wood and bourbon aftertaste. a slightly acidic character to it, especially after the sweetness wears off the aftertaste, and it leaves a sour residual behind.
