Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Had this on tap at Ashleys bar in Ann Arbor, MI. When I was drinking it, I couldn’t think of what style it would be. I guess English strong ale makes sense. It is a dark beer, although not pitch black. Smell is roasted malts, maybe some caramel. Taste is a nice blend, everything sort of comes together, roasty, hints of bourbon, milk, brown sugar. Very smooth. I could drink more of this stuff.

Thanks to Lowe1983 for this bottle. Deep molasses in color with a large, drk tan head. Chocolate, caramel, malts, brown sugar, roasted, vanilla, and milk. Flavor is milk chocolate, roasted malts, molasses, vanilla, and a little whiskey at the end. Finishes with bittersweet, smokey malts. Medium smooth body. Very enjoyable across the board. I’d have it again.

22 oz bottle. Pour dark, rich brown with a thin creamy withe head. Nose of sweet, roasted malt. Chocolate... both dark and milk. Bit of vanilla and dark cherries. Loads of roasted malt on the palate. Bourbon alcohol flavor comes slowly but is present. A tad leathery. Notes of vanilla and lactose. Fairly lush and silky mouthfeel.

Rating is a combination of bottle and tap (at the brewery) reviews. Pours a near black, rather thin pour with a nice tan head. Aroma of lactose, roasted malts, and hint of vanilla. Flavor is similar with nicely present smoky vanilla flavoris complementing the sweet lactose. Oak aging is noticeable, but very pleasant. I liked this brew, and would love to have this available on the West Coast.

thought it was a stout at first; pours almost black with thick, creamy consistency. flavors that dominate include vanilla, and caramel malts, along with coffee, chocolate and alcohol. surprisingly light and slightly bitter finish.

Pours very dark, almost black. Aroma is faint. Mouth feel is extremely thick and creamy. Strong vanilla flavor, some chocolate and malt, a bit of alcohol kick to it but not too bad considering the 9% ABV. Absolutely spectacular stuff.

Bomber. Pours dark brown with a medium head. Aroma of chocolate, dark malt and bourbon. Tastes like chocolate with a bit of lactic, bourbon and oak. I noticed vanilla as it warmed. Warm. Heavy bodied. Would make a great winter-warmer. Too bad it’s 90° today.

Bottle served in a pint glass. Pours brown with a large light brown rocky head with a head that is mostly diminishing but some very good lacing. The aroma is of caramel and a slight hint of oak. Takeing a drink all I can say is wow. Caramel malts, along with molasses and a slight nuttyness, with a subtly oakyness. There is also some butter and butterscotch. The body is full with a creamy texture and soft carbonation.
