Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Yet another awesome bomber brought by the Kevster, Thanks again.

It has a dark brown pour and little in the way of a head. The aroma is sweet with caramelized malts, pine hop sweetness, lactose, caramel candy and alcohol. For the taste a bit of alcohol hits first then sweet malts, caramelized malts, sizable pine hop bitterness, roasted malts and hints of lactose all round out the flavor. The finish has a growing alcohol sense but not in a hot way at all. Along with that I get roasted maltiness and hints of dark fruitiness well into the finish.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown, almost opaque with a large light tan frothy head. This beer screams "drink me!" So, I obeyed and drank it... you know... just to shut it up. Well, let me tell you something--it shut me up! Deep dark earthy and oakey tones dominate. Walnut tones hint at a sweet nuttiness. Then of course, there is the roasted carmel malt, coffee, and bitter dark chocolate. Finallly, a hint of bourbon adds to all this complexity. Lot going on here! One of the best English Strong Ales out there. Highly recommended!!!

Thanks to Kevin for sharing this treat. Pours a brown body, some red highlights. Smells and looks like a stout, not a strong ale. Aromas of cocoa, wood, malt, nuts. Flavor is dominated by the oak notes, with some nice roastiness as well. Really tastes like a sweet stout due to the finish, with is slightly dry and medium in length. A surprise for me, my favorite of the tasting session.

12 oz. bottle from 2004 cellared. Poured nicely with a few floaties. Spectacular fruity, sour aroma. Taste is tart with definite oak barrel notes and a burnt flavor in the background. I’d like to compare it to a recent boltting to taste the difference.

Bomber. Poured a clear, deep chestnut brown with a fizzy cap of beige head. Aroma began with an intriguing blend of soft bourbon and freshly-toasted oak... warm semi-sweet chocolate waves follow leaving offshoots of vanilla.. really enjoyed it. The flavor began with tingly bourbon and bitter herbal notes.. transitioning to grainy chocolate and vanilla on the sweet middle... warm bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and oak round out the finish... tasty, but had a couple moments of artificial vanilla and some sharper points that detracted from the flow. Medium-bodied with a decent flow. This was some good stuff!

Bottle. Aroma of mostly chocolate and some roasted malt (maybe also a little oak). This beer has the flavors of a stout or porter, but the mouthfeel of an ale. It reminds me of the time I sucked on a dragon’s teet. Pretty good flavor, roasted chocolate and oaky aftertaste.

Poured a black, with some ruby tints; medium to small light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, caramel and bourbon. Smooth and creamy on the palate; good mouthfeel. Flavor of roasted malt, some bitter chocolate, a hint of vanilla and bourbon. Some lingering sweetness.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a trappist glass, dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma was complex with notes of bourbon, cola, chocolate and smoke. Taste had notes of vanilla, oak and dark chocolate. Roasted malts became more noticeable as it warmed. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, lightly carbonated with a hint of bitterness. The alcohol was not noticeable.
