Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Poured a black, with some ruby tints; medium to small light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, roasted malt, caramel and bourbon. Smooth and creamy on the palate; good mouthfeel. Flavor of roasted malt, some bitter chocolate, a hint of vanilla and bourbon. Some lingering sweetness.

Poured from a 22 ounce bottle into a trappist glass, dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma was complex with notes of bourbon, cola, chocolate and smoke. Taste had notes of vanilla, oak and dark chocolate. Roasted malts became more noticeable as it warmed. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel, lightly carbonated with a hint of bitterness. The alcohol was not noticeable.

Bottle is now different than appears in the picture. All labeling and art work is painted in white on a 25-ounce bottle. Pours dark, near black. Aroma is acidic, lemony, bourbony, vanillaey, ricey, and oakey. The flavor is similar but with added chocolate and bourbon. Alcohol is very faint in the aroma and taste. Overall, the flavor and palate were somewhat watery and weak. I prefer stronger, more in-your-face flavors.

Pours black with a tan dissipating head. Smells of sweet malt, coffee, caramel, some cherries and chocolate. Tastes of dark chocolate with lots of underlying bitterness and spices. Mouthfeel is buttery with a nice sweet lasting finish.

Pours a dark amber brown color w/ a full, semi ceamy froth. Full residual lacing w/ a silky canopy. Aroma of chocolate milk. Full nectar w/ soft and creamy residual effers. Very luciuos. A huge malty backbone consecrates the complex marriage of chocolate cakebread, vanilla cream, bourbon, and a spicey oak bitterness. Deeply seared into the psyche of this behemoth is a subtle hopsy bitteress that balances it out. The sweetness factor is mild to moderate but totally enjoyable. This truely is dragons milk. Smooth and lucious. The finish is long and enduring w/ a mild bittering component that seems to stick around. Highly recommended.

Bottle, the newer silk-screened kind with no label. Poured a dark mahogany color with very little head. Spicy aroma, molasses, pit fruit, brown sugar. Thick palate. Spicy, mildly sour start with a good deal of sweetness midway through the taste. Nice overall dark, spicy character to the taste. Some alcohol present in the finish, but doesn’t get in the way. I tend to really enjoy beers with this kind of spicy/sweet/dark character, so I liked this one a lot. I’d like to have another to re-rate.

22oz bottle, shared with DeuceDeuceOU. Pours a dark brown almost black, with good smell. this beer is very smooth and got a few non believers to enjoy a dark beer. Flavor is sweet and malty. and enjoyable this beer hides its 9% ABV nicely.

A beautiful dark brew that boasts a full flavor, subtle flavors of vanilla and oak in the body. Drinks smooth all the way through, with a slightly swet aftertaste. Great beer.
