Feb 13, 2007 Pours a dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and molasses. Flavor is of chocolate, oak, vanilla, roasted malts, and molasses. The oak and the chocolate blend together very nicely. Probably my favorite brew from New Holland.

Feb 12, 2007 Huge vanilla aroma.Pours very dark with a tannish off white head.Malt,vanilla and a touch of sourness in the flavor.Medium mouthfeel with a lot of malt in the finish.

does not count  Feb 11, 2007 Tap. At a Grand Rapids bar. Poured into a Brandy Snifter-style glass. Dark brown color with swirls of light suds as you turn the glass. I agree with winegarner that it compares with many English Ales with bourbon charcter, but no bitterness. A mix of vanilla, and perhaps toffee. Full bodied, almost creamy. Complexity of guiness, but softer on the palate.

Feb 3, 2007 750 ml. bottle. Deep, almost balck, ruby pour that produces a creamy tan head that develops qucikly and subsides almost as fast. Unmistakable oak aroma up front, but given adequate support by burnt caramel, vanilla, and even a twinge of pepper. Smooth lightly carbonated mouthfeel that yields a ;asting richness - very nice. Brown sugar sweetness is quite dominant, some light spicy bitterness come in for balance.

Jan 31, 2007 aroma of malt and vanilla, taste came through as slightly roasted, sweet, with some alcohol warmth at the end. nce brew for these cold winter nights.
