Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

750 ml. bottle. Deep, almost balck, ruby pour that produces a creamy tan head that develops qucikly and subsides almost as fast. Unmistakable oak aroma up front, but given adequate support by burnt caramel, vanilla, and even a twinge of pepper. Smooth lightly carbonated mouthfeel that yields a ;asting richness - very nice. Brown sugar sweetness is quite dominant, some light spicy bitterness come in for balance.

Deep brownish red, little or no head, even when pouring down the middle... chocolate, vanilla, caramel, malt, a bit of coconut, hints of alcohol at the finish. Almost no lacing in the glass. Very easy to drink - and that scares me a bit @ 9%.

Pours to a thin reddish black with a brownish shaded head. Oaky bourbon aroma... Nutella on wheat bread. Roasted rye flavors, a flood of bourbon and what a dusty guitar string might taste like. Bourbon takes over in a serious way as the temperature rises.

Pours a clear brown with a thin covering of tan foam, spotty but decent lacing. Prominent sweet vanilla and oak in the aroma. More of the same in the flavor, caramel an llightly roasted malt with lots of vanilla and some nice oak undertones. A hint of hopping and some warm alcohol in the finish. Mild carbonation, medium body, a silky smooth sipper. Good stuff.

22oz screened bottle. Pours a very dark, red tinged, brown with a one finger head that fades away rather quickly. Even though the foam doesn’t stic around there’s still quite a bit of lacing. Smell; lots of sweet dark malts, with caramel and chocolate. This definitely has a strong oak aroma along with vanilla a touch of coconut, and some dark fruits. Taste; those malts come through nicely with the caramel, chocolate and a little bit of toffee. The coconut mixes very nicely with the oak barrel flavors, and has a nice smooth vanilla on the finish. There’s not much bitterness to be found in this one. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation, and the drinkability is very high up there. Once this gets to room temp it gets even smoother and I think the mouthfeel becomes more full.

22oz bomber, curtesy of Bartzilla. Beer 6 of the Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 1/12/2007, consumed with many great beer drinkers including Bartzilla, Naven, as well as Lee creator of Arrogant Bastard, and a really cool guy. This is really a fantastic beer, and I can’t really put my finger on the taste. A sweet malty yumminess that escapes in recollection of consuming something so damn good. I didn’t really know what to expect from this beer, and it totally defied by expectations because it is really damn good and tasty.

Poured a moderately clear dark brown to black color with a thin short lived head. Aromas of vanilla predominately then cream soda, toffee, and a bit of chocolate. Flavors is very sweet up front with vanilla and toffee being the most prevalent. Some yeasty fruit character though low compared to most strong english ales I have had before. In the finish the oak and bourbon become noticeable along with a slight bitterness. Very full bodied with an enjoyable creaminess. A very good beer by any standards.
