Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Bottle sample at the Green Flash/New Holland tasting at Blacklick Wine & Spirits on 7.23.09. Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Nice aroma of vanilla and chocolate and honey sweetness. Oaky vanilla flavor up front with some chocolate and alchol. Smells like a stout, but doesn’t quite taste as roasty. Aroma was definitely better, but still a decent overall beer.

Bottle thanks to Jonas at the Bruery. Pours with a khaki head over a deep brown body. Aroma of chocolate, brown sugar, oak, and darkfruits/berries. Taste is fruit, leather, biscuit, vanilla, chocolate, sugar cookie and lactose. Light bubbles.

Jet black pour. Smells like ice cream, oak, vanilla, toffe, caramel, some earthy hops, toasted grain. Flavor is much the same with a more pronounced wood flavor and booze. Awesome beer.

Aroma is interesting - somewhat smoky like a stout, but with a strong alcohol bite like a barleywine and a decided overtone of oak. It pours a dark, warm, chocolaty brown with a fairly thick beige head that is not all that persistent. Flavor is somewhere between a stout and a barleywine - oak dominates, and there is some "stouty" smoke-coffee-chocolate flavor plus quite a strong alcohol bite like a good brandy. Texture is sharp, edgy and tingly, going down more like hard liquor than beer.

Bottle. Dark brown/amber pour, little carbonation and a great oak and molasses aroma. Flavor was roasty malts, vanilla, rum and oaky on the finish. Solid beer, hope to try this on tap someday

1 pint 6 oz bottle at mom and dads: pours a nearly black dark brown with brilliant ruby edges. Tall dense tan head falls to a nice long lasting 1/2 cm layer. Woody nose with a nice dose of vanilla and chocolate. Good roast works it’s way through. If you let it sit some of those aromas blow over and cherry starts to build up. The beer lays nicely on the tongue with a light slickness and tannic twang. Oak tannins and alcohol work together to give it a bit of punch. Perhaps a bit too much. Some of the nice chocolate tones are lost under this tannic alcohol. Vanilla and cherry come through nicely with a creamy character after some of the booze fades away. Nice cherry and vanilla finish

On tap at Whole Foods. Drank this one while shopping...most ridiculous grocery store ever. Pour is dark dark brown with thin tan head. Aroma is coffee, vanilla, and roasted malt. Flavor is true to nose with long sweet finish. Solid beer, but was incredible under the circumstances.
