Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

On tap: Light chocolate, coffee, and fruit aroma. Dark brown, virtually black with an insignificant off-white head. Coffee up front with a fruit and chocolate finish. Real malty finish. As it warms the chocolate flavor intensifies.

I had this on tap at Roman’s. Appearance is a thick, creamy head. The liquid is dark brown. The nose reminds me of milky bourbon and sweet malt. It tastes VERY sweet. Like 2% milk with sugar and bourbon. Has a nice casky finish. The palate was silky soft with a full body. It was surprisingly not too sticky.

Deep dark brown in colour, almost completely opaque. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chocolate and some light sweetness and spices. Full-bodied; Strong roasty flavours lasting a long time with a lactic quality and a bit of nuts prevailing. Aftertaste shows the standard qualities - coffee, chocolate and dark cherries. Overall, a good heavy porter - I don’t really think this should be an English Strong...but that’s just me. Regardless, it is worth trying! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Binny’s Downtown in Chicago, Il on 08-October-2007.

Bottle shared with a bunch of folks at DougShoemaker’s Decemberfest 2006 - courtesy of mds. Ruby brown colour with a wispy tan head. Aroma has lots of bourbon, roast malt, vanilla and wood. Mouthfeel is soft and silky. Flavour - bourbon, vanilla, freshly roasted coffee, and some interesting sour cherry notes, with slowly building bitterness in the finish. Quite nice stuff.

22oz bottle 2005 version pours deep dark mahogony wiht a creamy tan head that laces the sides of the snifter well. Aroma is caramel, cherry, vanilla, a touch of oak, and just a bit of alcohol. Flavor is a nice blend of caramel, cherry, oak, smoke and just a hint of chocolate. Palate is full bodied but oh so smooth and creamy. Delightful mouthfeel. I thought this was fantastic and very underrated..

On tap GABF 02: Whiskey aroma, brown colored. buttery, lightly acidic finish and of course, more whiskey. This beer is unique and I could see how others would love it, but I’m glad I had a 1 OZ sample. If I had more I’m sure I would have rated this lower.

12 oz bottle, via BBB63. Pours a very dark brown with the slightest bit of light passing through the edges. The head is creamy and thick with great retention and left nice lacing. I can smell the oak and vanilla from a foot away. Some alcohol, sweet toffee and caramel maltiness, figs, dates, and marshmellow. Quite deep and complex. Flavor wise, it’s a little thin, moderately sour, and acidic on the finish. The oak is quite apparent, yet the alcohol isn’t at all. Malty sweetness is overtaken by the sour and thus leaves it pretty one dimensional. Mouthfeel is quite thin and fairly watery in texture with soft moderately active carbonation. This looked and smelled really good, but I think that there may be some type of infection taking over and killing this beer.
