Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Bottle. Pours a dark mahogany body with a creamy yellow-brown head. Interesting aroma for the most part - vanilla, oak, and caramel. Stranger flavour that is creamy, nutty, and has permeations of woody earthiness.

Dark walnut with ruby shimmers. Sticky, well-retained beige head. Mellow, lightly oxidized bouquet with abundant seared sugars, must, cola, and minty herb notes. Leans toward the airy side with flashes of baker’s chocolate, powdered sugar, and vanilla. Light, fluffy body. Less creamy than it is soft. Gentle, loose carbonation. Not quite sweet enough to start as grainy sugar flavors and minty herbs lead the way. Chocolate covered plums mix with a touch of coffee and cinnamon notes. Plummy malt richness thrives alongside some leafy, chocolate tendencies. Very long charred sugar, baker’s chocolate finish with very subtle toasty bourbon cask, hazelnut, and artificial sweetener underneath. Lingers with a light earthy sassafrasy, woody trait and mellowing baker’s chocolate. Absolutely no trace of the 10.5%. Much tastier at room temperature, but not by much. Decent.

GABF 2002: Red brown color. Malty whiskey aroma. Flat and raisiny. Sharp alcoholic finish, burns the tongue. A great warmer and sipper.

Dark brown in colour, lingering brown coloured head, good lacing. The aroma is of toffee, fruit, quite sweet, chocolate, biscuits and alcohol. The flavour has some vanilla, chocolate, rich toffee cookies, alcohol and dark fruits. Alcoholic and rather sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, medium carbonation. Finishes thin leaving the alcohol to become more pronounced.

Too much alcohol heat came through in this for my liking. I grew tired of it rather quickly.

650ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

Aroma sweet creamy and milk-like - there is also some roastedness and oak as well. It is a very dark brown with a slight reddish tint. The taste has smooth roasted oak taste with lots of creamy characteristics. Some hop bitterness on the finish. Hints of chocolate come into plays further down the glass. Light to medium carbonation with this medium bodied beer. Very interesting beer that is worth trying.

22 oz bottle - Pours very dark brown to black with a thin head. This beer smells much like a stout with roasted malt and some chocolate notes. There’s also a hint of vanilla. The flavor is dark roasted caramel malts with coffee and chocolate in there. Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and a hint of hops providing balance, Dragon’s Milk goes down smoothly, the 9% abv buried under all that malt. Excellent beer.

On tap at the Vintage Estates, thanks Nuts. Beautiful black pour, looks dee-lish wth its chocolate mousse head. Aroma is malty milky and easy going, seems very friendly and mouth watering. As far as the taste goes you’d never know this is 9%, no way. Rather strong and smooth but yet is easy to palate. Some mild creamy carbonation is apparent. Not quite as oppressive as an imp stout, but this is approaching the style. Finish is rather alky overall tho it is well controlled with personality.
