Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Bottle purchased at Sam’s/Chicago. Pours dark brown with ruby edges and a quickly fading beige head. Roastiness, caramel, oak, nuttiness and light alcohol in the nose. Flavor has notes of plum, raisin, chocolate, roasted malt, caramel and brown sugar. Plesantly sweet, plenty of hop backing and bitterness. Medium bodied with a smooth texture, perhaps a tad thin along with moderate carbonation. Solid.

Bottle at mondial de la Bière (Montréal). Dark brown body with a decent beige frothy head. Complex malty/hoppy aroma that carries oaky, coffeeish and chocolate hints. Taste is not as robust as I was expecting, but it is still more that decent. Ends with a long warming finish.

[Bottle from early 08 opened 4.9.09] Pours a dark murky dull brown with a small frothy beige bubbly head. Aroma of oxidized malts, overripe dark fruit, burnt molasses, a bit grainy. Flavor is quite dull and bitter, gentle sweet, oxidized malts, raisins, hay, milk chocolate, bourbon and cream. Medium/full creamy mouthful with zero carbonation.

22 oz bomber shared with the Fight Night Drinking Crew supplied by broncoman, thanks Darin. Pours deep brown/black with a small off white head. Very slight aroma, only slight notes of roastiness and perhaps a touch of vanilla. Medium bodied with average carbonation that is smooth and highly drinable. Flavor is stronger then the aroma with notes of oak, roastiness, vanilla and a touch of charcoal. This beer is dark and smooth much like the guy who supplied it.

Bottle. Overcarbonated. Very dark brown, huge tan head. Bourbon and yeast aroma, maybe some roast down there somewhere. Malty rosty flavor, very sharp and disorganized, with a rather dominant alcohol component. Too much carbonation on the palate. Sharp stinging flavors on the tongue. These flavors are not meshing at all for me and are making this one hard to finish.

First new holland product. Lovely beer had at beer bistro over a nice brunch.i get alot of vanilla on the nose and a bit of bourbon as well, not alot of carbonation, velvety mouthfeel, has many aspects as has been said before of a milk stout. Really nice beer

Bottle courtesy of thirdeye11. Dark brown to reddish pour. Nice chocolate smell with the spice of higher ABV. Cocoa flavoring with a slight tingle. Woody finish, very woody. I like this.
