Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

oak aged ale... nice aroma. malty, woody, coffee, pretty - calm yet prominent. the taste is lovely, pretty. smooth and milky, wet, sweet, woody, and coffee. the aftertaste is nice - slightly bitter yet not offensive. no taste of alcohol and although it's not "complex" hey i like it because i lick my lips!

Pours a slightly murky mahogany into the glass, with a tiny head that dissipates to nothing. Some sweet vanilla, oak and roasted notes to the nose, reminiscent of a complex stout or porter. Dry takes on caramel malts and some dark fruits on the flavor palate, with some semi-sweet chocolates and slight roasts ingrained as well. The finish is about the same, with the esters and roasts closing the pull. The mouthfeel is creamy, with alcohol noted throughout. A nice brew, and a good all-around offering, although not the typical ESA, in my humble opinion. Decent.

Sampled at the Savor DC event. Pours a watery, nearly opaque black with a thin white head. Mild aroma of vanilla and oak. Flavor has more roasted malts, toast and strong whiskey. Flat and a bit oily on the palate. The beer was really good, but it was pair with Maytag blue cheese and didn’t stand up to the pairing.

MI BG Winter Fest. Pours a dark, cloudy mahogony color with a thin tan colored head. Aroma is caramel, oak, sweet malts. Flavor of Leather, oak, tobacco, caramel, and mild bourbon. Palate is silky smooth, medium-full bodied, mildly carbonated, sweet finish. Really good stuff from a place I’m continually disappointed in.

Bottle - Poured a very dark opaque brown with an insane amount of tan head that took its time dissipating. Lacing was evident but not overly so. Nice aroma that indicated the barrell aging and an overriding sweet chocolate scent. My first sip was quite a shock as the back of my tongue shot of some sour alarms, but either I adjusted or the beer mellowed because I enjoyed it mroe and more as it went on developing into a subduedly sweet brew with a smooth texture in the mouth. Warming, and as the beer itself warmed hints of oak and the malts became more prevalent, though I never did really sense any bourbon myself. Solid beer but a rather inconsistent drink.

very dark, overwhelmingly sweet. It definetly had a milky feel, a decent Old Ale.
