Great flavor, but too sweet for more than one... probably one of the most stout like ales I’ve ever had. madmitch76 (645), , Essex, England

Creamy malt with a rich fruity undertone. Pleasant oak and vanilla and minerals on the finish. Not too dry like so many barrel aged beers. Smooth and complex. nhorween (640), Chicago, Illinois, USA

Malty and a little bready, flat finish. Oily in the mouth. Drinkable, but not outstanding. Caramel. Quake1028 (633), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours a brown body, some red highlights. Smells and looks like a stout, not a strong ale. Aromas of cocoa, wood, malt, nuts. Flavor is dominated by the oak notes, with some nice roastiness as well. Really tastes like a sweet stout due to the finish, with is slightly dry and medium in length. A surprise for me, my favorite of the tasting session. 502Flavors (631), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Sep 4, 2008 Short review because of short notes: Bomber into pint glass. A very rich thick brew, vanilla and milk chocolate mostly. Rich and creamy. If you like sweet stouts (or you liked Rogue chocolate stout) you will probably live this. It was almost too much though for me. I didn’t really want an entire bomber of it, maybe just a 12 ounce or a pint. milewide (622), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA

Add a black/red color and some nice roasted malt flavors and you have a winner! unclebleen (620), California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 4, 2009 aroma of wood, booze and caramel. some notes of roast as well. appearance is opaque with a clean white head. flavor is similar to a milk stout in more ways then the smooth, silky palate. the strong wood and booze from the nose is not prevelant here, much cleaner and sweeter taste, mostly of roasted malt.
