Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

Bottle. Pours opaque with a small, rocky, light brown head, somewhat lasting with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (cookie, caramel, nutty), light hop (grass), average yeast (leather) with notes of bourbon, oak, vanilla, prune, date, and toffee. Full bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a spicy finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

Now this stuff was awesome. Deep mahogany burnt flavor that nicely masked the 10.5%. Bitter chocolate tastes battle sweet rasberry in a fight to the death.

Bottle shared with the gang at Decemberfest 2006 -- courtesy of mds. Pours a deep dark reddish-brown with a small diminishing off-white head. Aroma of bourbon, caramel malt and some faint coffee and chocolate, also a little lactic. Flavour follows the aroma along with some sourness. Medium bodied. This wasn’t what I was expecting at all based on the name of the beer and I must say I didn’t love it, too bourboney for my liking. I found it just O.K.

Bottle. Medium sized tan fizzy head that was mostly lasting, decent lacing, opaque, no visible carbonation, and a dark brown near black hue. Malty, sweet, caramel, some chocolate notes, and oak notes. Flavor was sweet, malty, caramel, and some oak. Tingly palate. Medium body.

This one was a little bitter. Not sure if it was maybe going a little sour. Can taste the oak in it. The only thing that really had the "stout" feel to it was the burnt toast coming through. Dark brown in appearance. 6-4-6-3-14 Re-rate from a bomber thanks to LoganDenver. Pours a darker brown with some amber when held to light. A smaller tan lacing head. Aroma of sweet vanilla and a woody oak. Flavor of the same with a slight roastiness.

GABF 2006. Ruddy brown. Nose is oak, some vanilla, bourbon and sweet malts. Taste is more oak and bourbon with some vanilla, creamy, sweet malts, faded caramel, and hints of cocoa. Body is medium with mild carbonation. Finishes with more wood, bourbon, hints of vanilla, and creamy malts.

Eagan, Mn. - Cellars Wines and Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Cola-like brown pour with a thin but persistent khaki colored head with sticky lacing. Sweet aroma with hints of caramel and bourbon. Flavor has some hints of chocolate, licorice, bourbon, a caramel-like finish. Oak presence is felt and done just right with this one - not overdone and sappy. Thick rich mouthfeel.

22 oz bottle. Poured a dark brown color with reddish-orange highlights. Head was thick and brown with good retention. Pretty mundane cocoa aroma. Sweet, slightly acidic, and boozy; kind of like a sour chocolate liqueur, I guess. I detected bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and oak notes. Tangy and acidic at then end. Interesting.
