Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

22oz bomber, curtesy of Bartzilla. Beer 6 of the Bartzilla’s Death Metal Beer Tasting 1/12/2007, consumed with many great beer drinkers including Bartzilla, Naven, as well as Lee creator of Arrogant Bastard, and a really cool guy. This is really a fantastic beer, and I can’t really put my finger on the taste. A sweet malty yumminess that escapes in recollection of consuming something so damn good. I didn’t really know what to expect from this beer, and it totally defied by expectations because it is really damn good and tasty.

Tasting at Brewtopia. I have always wanted to try this(probably the name!). A nice dark brown pour with edges of dark red. This one smells sweet, roasted, toasted and some vanilla creeps in on the nose. The flavor was a bit of a let down. I get some chocolate and malts but I also get some weird flavor and mouthfeel hit me. A bit too toasty for my likes and strikes me as a porter more than a ESA . Alcohol is hidden pretty well.

In the bomber bottle at the Max & Joe’s Tavern Michigan Beer tasting (11/21/6). A very dark, dark brown. No head at all. Has the aroma of horhound candy, vanilla and coffee. Dum Dum candy flavors. Tastes very stout-like. Rich caramel and chocolate. Thick and delicious. The finish is roasted coffee. Has a mild hint of bourbon. The alcohol is well hidden in this beer by the strong sweetness. Yum.

Like some beer with your bourbon? This is for you. Powerful bourbon aroma. Light brown color and lightly carbonated. A little sweet flavor, very heavy and thick with more bourbon in the flavor. Simple and one dimensional, and the alcohol flavor makes it a little hard to drink.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Milk chocolate aroma. Chocolate, light oatmeal, and light oak flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate, light milk and light malt lingers with a bit of toasty malts.

Dark walnut color with a medium beige head and nice lacing. The aroma has a light smoke character, along with sweet malt and hops. Medium-bodied with a nice oak undertone. There is a nice mixture of toasted malt, smoke, bourbon and muted hops. The finish is rather short and mildly sweet. Doesn’t quite live up to the cool name, but enjoyable all the same.
