Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

An amazing vanillay oaky, flavorful strong ale. This beer is one of the few high alcohol numbers that doesn’t show it alcohol in a negative manner. A very elegant number.

Picked up at Green’s in Greenville, South Carolina, as it is not available in Georgia, Dragon’s Milk poured out dark brown, and formed a khaki colored head. The smell was a nice mixture of herbal hops and sweet chocolate and toffee. The taste was an extension of the smell with sweet malts being showcased with a backing of hops. The beer was carbonated nicely, and gave a creamy textured feel in the mouth. The finish was quite sweet and would have benefited a bit from more alcoholic strength. Very easy to drink, and quite flavorful, I definately see myself picking up more of this when it becomes more readily available.

Pours deep black with a thin off white head Aroma is sweet caramel and fairly strong smoky notes can be detected. Very strong milk chocolate notes as well. Taste is heavy of chocolate and caramel w/ some bitterness as from nice dark chocolate. This has a very balaced flavor. Mouthfeel is smooth and creamy. Drinkability is high despite its high alcohol content and great intriguing flavor.

Easily one of the best beers I’ve had in the last year or more. Really great aroma. Flavor has more oak in it which I liked. I spent $14 for the bottle and while I think that is high it was worth it this night.

Bottle. Poured a dark, purplish brown color with a nice brown head and strong lacing. Aroma was very pleasant, with a nice blend of roasted malts and oak. Mouthfeel was okay. Flavor wasn’t as bold as I had expected, especially for the ABV. Hints of chocolate, oak, alcohol, toffee, and coffee. This was a nice big offering from New Holland.

Thanks to Denverlogan for this...Aayiiieeee!!!! This one actually came in a dark 22 oz, silk screened bomber. Appears a hazy dark brownish black with a small tan head that fades into a film. Spotty lacing is left around the glass. Smell is of oaky lactose with cocoa, caramel, and vanilla. Taste is of the same aromas perhaps just knocked down a notch. Mouthfeel is silky and creamy with mild carbonation. Perhaps one of the silkiest beers I’ve ever had.

Dragon’s Milk poured a dark black with a deep ruby tint. Poured from a 750mL bottle into my snifter created a 1 inch head caramel in color. Leaves a nice creamy film along the side of the glass as it’s inbibed. Dark choclatey flavor with a hint of Bourbon. You can definitely taste the alcohol but, definitely not over powering. Leaves a nice malty aftertaste on the back of your tongue with a hint of something sweet. I am definitely enjoying this Stout and will get back to the store for more!

Had some on tap at Mad Mex, and damn if it wasn’t better than I remembered! Brown pour with a tan head. Huge aroma of bourbon, vanilla, bready malt, wood, and a bit of smoke. The flavor was definetly a smooth bourbon and sweet malt maybe with a tinge of bitterness torwards the end throught the finish which also brings out more vanilla. Creamy with a soft carbonation over the tounge with a warming boozey finish. Pretty damn good stuff.
