Feb 27, 2006 Beer pours burgendy color wit a modestly retained beige colored ead. Aroma is mainly ligt bourbon notes wit a bit of oak. Also smells sweet and malty. Flavor is dominated by te oak and also te very well integrated bourbon flavor wic is exquisitely done. Very restained. In fact tis beer sares te barrel aging caracteristics wit one of my personal favorites, Oerbier Reserva. Quite nice.

Oct 10, 2008 Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Very dark brown color (some garnet) with a fine, high beige head. Aromas of dark roast malt and chocolate? Also dark stone fruit. Medium plus body with near creamy carbonation. A mild ale partaking of some aspects of stout and porter - like I think I taste coffee. There’s a touch of wood. Finishes towards astringent, with very decent bitter to counteract the malt. Wood seems to bite a bit as time goes on.

May 3, 2009 Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Milk chocolate aroma. Chocolate, light oatmeal, and light oak flavor. Medium-plus bodied. Chocolate, light milk and light malt lingers with a bit of toasty malts.

This beer was as black as sin. It had a light tan, foamy head. It left some oily lace/residual. The aroma was of malt, chocolate and burnt cherry. The flavor was of malt, chocolate and burnt cherry. It had a slight bit of alcohol present in the finish. Slightly oily body to it. A slightly lighter body than others of this style. A good beer

Aug 16, 2009 Eagan, Mn. - Cellars Wines and Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Cola-like brown pour with a thin but persistent khaki colored head with sticky lacing. Sweet aroma with hints of caramel and bourbon. Flavor has some hints of chocolate, licorice, bourbon, a caramel-like finish. Oak presence is felt and done just right with this one - not overdone and sappy. Thick rich mouthfeel.

Jan 11, 2009 Dark black and silky, with little head. Strong licorice-based aroma, but the first sip is fairly restrained ... moderate strength, hint of smoke, licorice, dark fruit. (#3482, 11/2008)

Jan 31, 2003 On tap. The nose is AWESOME. The aging in the Oak Barrel gives it a great complex taste. It is smooth, creamy, a little sweet, with hints of cherries and caramel. The finish will hit you hard. There is a reason it only comes in 10oz portions...

Apr 15, 2005 Poured a very dark brown color with a light tan head that left light lacing on the glass. Aroma of java, smoke, and vanilla oak. Taste of soured dry fruits, lightly tart, chocolate and roast. Wow, I just assumed this was some sort of stout, thanks Steve!
