Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

22oz bottle shared by TheCaptain. Thanks Mark. Very dark ruby red color with a creamy beige head. Huge gusts of oak and vanilla waft up from the glass. The taste has the aforementioned oak and vanilla along with some toffee and bourbon. Nicely balanced.

Pours a dark brown with some red highlights when held up to the light. Caramel, raisins, bourbon, molassess in the nose. The taste is very caramelly, with hints of vanilla and oak. Mouthfeel is, ironically, milky. Pretty good ale, though I’m not completely convinced of it being english. Almost chocolately finish.

Brewed in the USA....... Pours black with a small tan head and some spider lacing. Aroma of vanilla, molasses, malts and wood. The taste is of dark malts, caramel, vanilla and a hint of bourbon. Mouthfeel is smooth and sweet and finishes with a very mild dryness. Overall, this strong ale is incredibly easy to drink and you don’t taste the 9%.

Pours very dark brown to black with a thin head. This beer smells much like a stout with roasted malt and some chocolate notes. There’s also a hint of vanilla. The flavor is dark roasted caramel malts with coffee and chocolate in there. Full bodied and creamy with enough hops so satisfy.

Black pour with brown head. Oak and vanilla notes with roasted sweetness, Taste is smooth- oak, vanilla, roasted malt, slight sweetness, and did I mention smooth. What a nice tasting brew. For 8.5%, you don’t notice the alcohol. The oak flavor becomes more pronounced as it warms and the vanilla gives off a great mouthfeel. Nice lacing on the glass. Tasty beer.

OBF 2008. Smooth and creamy palate. Pours black with a smooth tan head. Chocolate up front, milky and soft, with a woody earthy finish. Slightly boozy in the finish.

Overall I would call this a good beer but not great. I think the label combined with the anticipation of drinking this beer left me with somewhat of an unfulfilled expectation. I think one impediment of rating this beer is the temputaure at which it was served. As the beer warms it releases a richer nose profile much like walking from thru the front door of the flower shoppe and then going into the flower warehouse. As the beer warms below my nose as I type report the sweet malty tones are more and more pronounced with a delightful effect to my nasal passages. I would try this beer again but make sure that it was served at a better temp - like 65 or so. Prost! Beer:30 http://bit.ly/beer30

22 oz bomber from Princeton’s. Black in color but not very thick and little thin head. Aroma is boozy with the oak and bourbon coming out very prominently. The mouthfeel is much thinner than I expected but the flavors are definitely rich and full. Again the oak and bourbon are present with the vanilla coming through slightly on the finish.
