Commercial Description:
Dragon’s Milk is a 17th century term used to describe the strong beer usually reserved for royalty. This strong ale was aged in oak for over 120 days. The aging process extracts flavors from the wood, which contribute to its complex character. Hints of bourbon flavor perfectly compliment its roasted malts to produce a beer fit for a King.

At least a 95/100 on the complexity scale: French vanilla, blackstrap, black licorice, rain-soaked oak, lightly charred toffee, barrel-aged Zinfandel port, 70% cacao Columbian chocolate, bitter espresso powder, warm buttermilk.... This is my kinda brew. (Tap, BrewKettle, 2/10/07)

A beautiful dark brew that boasts a full flavor, subtle flavors of vanilla and oak in the body. Drinks smooth all the way through, with a slightly swet aftertaste. Great beer.

the first bottle i had of this was terribly infected and very sour. this, on the other hand is incredible. it reminds me of an imperial porter... but not.

pours a very dark burgundy brown. the head is tan but minimal and manages to leave some spotty lace on the glass in it*s short time on this planet. vaya con dios, my friend! aromas of vanilla cream, coffee, roasty grains, chocolate and brown sugar fill my nose. as it hits nearly room temperature, the bourbon-y/spicy/woody characters really start to come in to play. the flavor is much like the aroma... lots of roast/malt powdery goodness, coffee, milky chocolate, caramel, vanilla and faint barrel/earthy notes with a spicy kick on the finish. coffee really hangs on in the aftertaste as the belly gets nice and warm from the booze. extremely "well" bodied but seemingly light for how much flavor it packs in. it*s not sticky as it has a pleasant acidity and spiciness to cut through the richness...

i must have been drinking a lot of craptacular beer lately because i actually had to stop what i was doing to enjoy this... 8/4/8/4/19/4.3

Pours with a dark reddish-black color with a small head. Aroma is caramel and coffee, the flavor is the same with a hint of vanilla. Full body is dry and somewhat carbonated on the tongue.

Wow! This beer is delicious. A good cold day beer, not heavy and hot but it is soothing and warming to the stomach. Great flavors and a finish. Excellent on tap and in bottle.

100th Rating! Yum Yum Yum! Loved the taste here, and aroma. More chocolate than coffee i think, with a thick finish. Love that it just lingers on the tongue. Hardly any alcohol taste in it. Great Great brew. Cheers!

Pours with a cloudy, dark head with an aroma ranging between hazelnuts, leather, and burnt sugar. The aftertaste leaves us with a slighty more powerful than desired alcohol/varnish flavor, but quickly balances out. As complex as an ale ought to be, another fine submission from the folks at New Holland.

Dan’s Bachelor Party Extended Weekend Rating #65 of 90. On tap at New Holland in Holland, MI. Pours black with ruby edge. Lost of coffee, toffee, caramel and bourbon. This was my hands down favorite from NH. Very good!
