Commercial Description:
Consider it an extremely hoppy barleywine, or a really big IPA. Either way, ten hop additions contribute to its lush and intriguing body. Aggressive dry-hopping brings a strong citrus character to the aroma. The flavor and smell of orange-blossoms pervade throughout the experience.
Ingredience:Water,Barley(200 pounds per barrel of American-grown malted barley),Hops(10 hop-strikes,totaling 17 ounces per barrel of American-grown hops) and yeast(it is what it is).

courtesy of ibrew2or3. Pours copperish/brown, with beige head. Aroma is of caramel malts and grains. Taste. sugary, hoppy and grains. Thick mouthfeel. Lots of hops for a barleywine, but this one remained highly drinkable.

Pours a clear copper-amber color with a hoppy, citrusy, and sappy aroma. Flavor is honey-sweet with a suckerpunch hidden within. The honey finish does not dull the hop reminder present in the finish. Very good hop wine. A different experience.

22oz bottle. Dark gold pour, whitish head. Piney aroma, slightly sweet, bitter flavor, but I like it. Darn good brew.

bottle, from either Cary or Raleigh Wholefoods. Ok aroma, sweet, wet leaves, butter scotch, toasted wheat , Abv is very present. Clean brownish orange color, small to no head, no lace. Bitter sweet flavor, real bitter, astringent, grapefruit bite, burnt caramel. Medium body, flat creamy mouthfeel, bitter finish. Not enjoyable overall, struggled to finish as I hoped it would get better. Old note from back in July.

Pours crystal clear copper with tan head. The aroma comes across as grainy, malty and full of pine hops. The hops keep pushing forward with grassiness, mild earthiness and more pine with a deeper draw. The taste is fairly viscous bringing in an initial brief pulse of thick sweet malts before the pine hop bitterness and grassiness completely take over the flavor. The malts persist deep in the background becoming noticeable from time to time added some depth. But make no mistake about it this is a supremely hoppy brew with mild sense of the ABV in both the nose and flavor.

I may have gotten an oxidized bottle, but this stuff is seriously flat. The stuff has a strong juniper flavor to it - reminds me more of a gin and tonic than a barleywine. Pours a flat amber with no head. Aroma is pine and juniper, with a little (but not much) citrus flavor in the back. Ends on a cardboard note.

GABF 2008 poured a clear gold with a small lingering white head. Aromas of carmel, lemon, orange and a hint of pine. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors ofcarmel, grapefruit and pine with a smooth dry lingering bitter finish.

Pours light amber with a small off white head. Aroma is malty and hoppy. Big alcohol taste as well as lots of malts and hops. An interesting barley wine.
