Flavor has more of the same, less the spicyness. There is a sort of metallic chalkyness that comes through in this beer. Tubbfan (144), Joliet, Illinois, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2005 Poured a yellowish golden with almost no white head, but some lacing. Could not smell anything. I’m struck immediately by the Saaz hops with a hint of the malt. Really a complex mouthfeel: hops wash over my tongue, followed by an astringent wave, then a gush of saliva similar to what happens when you drink real lemonade. Definitely more hoppy than malty; light, but not watery; good constant carbonation. kujo9 (1078), North Ridgeville, Ohio, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Aug 12, 2005 12 oz. bottle: Lightly hazy light gold w/ a thin, short lived, white head. Diacetyl w/ soapy, and grassy hops. Herbal hops as it warms. Lightly corn and sweet grainy malt as well. Well balanced overall, but a bit sugary sweet up front with an herbal hop that starts mid palate into the drier finish and into the short lived aftertaste. Malt is sort of overtaken by hops in the overall flavor plus a hint of green apple. Body is lighter but not watery, higher than average carbonation, and smooth. Flavorful but basically one dimensional in the flavor. A great alternative to macro swill as it has all the same flavors, but this seems like a macro beer on steroids! All flavors of a macro are intensified greatlly in this beer. awaller05 (301), Sharon, Wisconsin, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jul 22, 2005 Good for a lager. Very easy to identify the germanic malt style, but thankfully with more depth than the popular american lagers. A little spice, a little whiskey, and a tiny amount of hop profile keep this from being too boring. Yet, if you don’t look for these things, you won’t find them jumping out to grab your attention. Still, it’s cheaper than buying good imported lagers, if you’re into that sort of thing. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Jul 5, 2005 Tap: world beer expo/Frankenmuth. Pale golden in color with very little head. Aroma has lots of grassy hop character toi it. Flavor is all hops but very subdued. Almost no malt presence in this whatsoever. DrnkMcDermott (1864), Downers Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 3, 2005 Updated: Nov 15, 2009Bottled. Beer #3 of 31 American beers for American Beer Month. A simple idea, remarkably well executed. My bottle kept foaming up when I poured, but my friend’s bottle was OK, and both tasted the same. Brilliant, slightly hazy golden yellow under a puffy white head. A nice hoppy smell that I wouldn’t have thought to be German. Malt taste is bright and sharp, kind of like an ordinary "beer" turned up to 11. Hop taste lingers nicely after the first few sip. Definite pilsener malt taste, almost a hint of whiskey malts; just a tiny bit oxidized. Still a great discovery.<hr>2nd bottle, 1 Feb. 2006. This is from the same purchase as the first, so it’s over 9 months old. Still holds up exceptionally well. A gush of foam that actually has geographic features in the glass. Malts are mild but clean, and the hop is spicy... a great lawnmower beer or an introduction to BMC drinkers of how "their" beer could be done right. BennyTicklez (621), USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | Jul 2, 2005 Pours yellow with almost no head. Weak aroma. Taste is clean and pure, but thin and lacking any substance. Good hop profile on such a light beer. Very drinkable.
