| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 10, 2009 Pours a clear golden with a thin white head. Aroma is light malts, grains, and grassy notes. Light bodied with medium carbonation. Tastes of light malts, light grassy hops, grains and rather dry overall. Very simple and unimpressive beer, even for a Kolsch. drywallman (228), Lake in the Hills, Illinois, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 8, 2009 This one poured a dark yellow color, with a relatively thin, short lasting head. It seemed to have a good mouthfeel with a decent malt (maybe slightly un-malted) start, followed by a stright forward hop balance. A good summertime beer, which is what a Kolsch is. Nothing extra special. phaleslu (534), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 4, 2009 Pint draft from Dewey’s in Cincinnati. Pours clear gold with small white head. Minimal aroma of straw, grain, grass, and gentle hops. Flavor is too mild, but faint hops, straw, grain, grass, corn, and malt are there. Light body, watery, carbonation doesn’t seem to exist in this one. Dry finish. Not a whole lot to it, but certainly very easy to drink and devoid of any of the offensiveness of a cheap macro if you’re looking for a lighter beer to drink a lot. jefcon (1001), Arlington, Virginia, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Aug 28, 2009 A fairly dry kolsch with lots of malty characteristics, including a dark, husky streak of raw-tasting malts that seem out of character for the beer. Copper in color and lightly aromatic. Dominated by grainy, grassy, cereal notes. Clean finish and light body. hamrech (34), Carbondale, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 27, 2009 Unfortunately, as brews in general go, kolsch is not a very interesting style. However, as kolsch-style brews go, this is a very good one. With these I’m looking for something super refreshing, with some bite and a hint of funk, and this fits the bill on all of those. It is what it is, and right now it serves my purposes, but all in all it’s not really much fun. esjaygee (1537), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 23, 2009 I’m a big fan of the New Holland high gravity series, but most of their regular beers have been so-so save the Poet and mad hatter. This one fits that so-so at best bill. Light yellow with a wispy white head that does leave some lacing. Aroma of grain, grassy hops, pale malt and light fruit. Taste of pale malt, light fruit, corn, sweet malt, mild burnt malt and a bit of skunkiness. Finish is mostly clean but some residual bitterness does creep through. | 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Aug 16, 2009 This was purchased atWhole Foods. The beer poured with very head and a plae yellow in color. The beer was dry and with little bitterness or tastes of malt. All the flavors appear to be muted. This was not a noteworthy beer. Panzuriel (993), Westerville, Ohio, USA
