Flavor is more bitter than I would have expected, with the bready, caramel malty characters playing a backseat to the hops. pretty tasty. long, bitter finish with a hint of caramel. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 22, 2009 The aroma is odd in that it seems like corn malt, grassy hops, incense, and herbs. The appearance is cloudy gold with an average head. The flavor is like the aroma and very good. The palate is smooth. Overall I am shocked it has qualities I would not have figured would make a good beer but it is just that. The finish is slightly herbal and metallic but not distracting. fly (1332), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 20, 2009 Kölsch is inherently a simple style. This is well made and I would say their own commercial description is nut deceptive. Would probably enjoy having as a session beer from time to time if it were available here on tap. lampeno420 (321), Zeeland, Michigan, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 14/20 | Apr 14, 2009 On tap at New Holland. My first try at a kolsch, ive been putting it off for a little while now.
Dont know if this is the best example i can get or not, but i enjoyed it pretty well. Big fluffy head and golden color. Decent aroma, but the flavor was a lot more. Lots of grassy notes throughout, which slowly die off leaving a heavy aftertaste. Could’ve done without the huge aftertaste, but the refreshment of the initial taste will keep me coming back for more. drpimento (828), La Crosse, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 13, 2009 Poured with a smallish white head and no lace until I tipped the glass to drink - and then not a lot. Beery, grainy, grassy, aroma. Taste is similar, but I also picked up at different points bitter and sweet. A little malt. Body’s a tad soft. Very easy drinking; decent finish. Could be a session brew. Not great; not bad. Eh. Birdiebeagle (788), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Apr 1, 2009 Bottle Pours a clear pale yellow with a small white head. The head has average staying power but is leaving. Produces some very nice lacing. Has a grainy aroma. Somewhat musty. Has a very crisp taste. Good amount of carbination. Has a light body. A touch on the watery texture. A easy finish. Has a taste like a soupe up Macro. Not awful and very easy drinking. DrHomolka (728), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Mar 25, 2009 Bottle. Pours a pale yellow color with a small pale white head that lasts. Nice mildly malty aroma. Cereal, pilsner malt, clean and simple. Flavor is pretty damn mild. Super drinkable, a little boring. I’ve had this beer before and remember it being better. Perhaps this sample is not as fresh. I like this style and can appreciate it but this beer at this time is just a little underwhelming.
