Commercial Description:
As the story goes, the charm of the Cap hails an otherwise mischievous band of winged-monkeys to carry out any three commands its owner wishes, such as carrying you from vast scarlet poppy fields to Emerald City, or even to the comfort of a country farmhouse. Golden Cap Saison however, brings the comfort to you with its modern interpretation of a traditional farmhouse ale. A soft, pale beer, Golden Cap accentuates the flavors and aromas of summer fields. Brewed with an ancestor to wheat called spelt, and bottle-conditioned; it's straw-colored body accentuated with lively carbonation and unique fermentation profile evoke fresh cut hay and cracked peppercorns. Ep-pe, pep-pe, kak-ke! Hil-lo, hol-lo, hel-lo! Ziz-zy, zuz-zy, zik!

Tap. Poured a clear gold with a white head and left nice lacing. The aroma consisted of sweet notes, fruits and flowers. Flavor was nice with a combination of malts and fruitiness.

Poured a hazy medium gold, decent head. Aroma was spicy, coriander and lemon accented. Flavor was a match, yeast driven with some nice spice notes that matched the aroma. Similar in many ways to a wit in nature, just a bit fuller in the mouth. Nice, although perhaps not the best if you were looking for a traditional Saison.

Pours a translucent light yellow with a thin white head. The nose is earthy/musty, pronounced barnyard character, very yeasty, mild spice. Flavor is very earthy and yeasty, some mild bubblegum esters, one-dimensional, mild corn flavor at the end. Mildly carbonated palate.

Bottle - Mondial de la Bière, Montréal. Hazy golden body with average white foamy head. Malty/hoppy aroma with honeyish, spicy and coriander hints. Taste carries some citrusy notes and ends with a good bitter/sour finish. Average Saison.

Bottle, Mondial 2009. Clear yellow. Aroma is yeast, bubble gum and spices. Taste is yeasty, spicy and a bit acidic. Good carbonation. A bit dry and bitter on the finish. Nothing really special about it.

Pours an opaque attractive gold with decent head. Peppery, grassy, hints of citrus. Refreshing. Not the most complicated saison ever, but definitely a drinkable one.

Bottle at Mondiale. Pours a hazy honey gold with a thin white head. Aroma is syrupys sweet, honey, toffee, toast, spicy peppery phenolics and citrus zest- very sweet. Flavor is even sweeter and not dry at all- honey, toasted victory malt sweetness, harsh peppery spice, harsh solvent and syrupy finish. Pretty bad.
