Commercial Description:
As the story goes, the charm of the Cap hails an otherwise mischievous band of winged-monkeys to carry out any three commands its owner wishes, such as carrying you from vast scarlet poppy fields to Emerald City, or even to the comfort of a country farmhouse. Golden Cap Saison however, brings the comfort to you with its modern interpretation of a traditional farmhouse ale. A soft, pale beer, Golden Cap accentuates the flavors and aromas of summer fields. Brewed with an ancestor to wheat called spelt, and bottle-conditioned; it's straw-colored body accentuated with lively carbonation and unique fermentation profile evoke fresh cut hay and cracked peppercorns. Ep-pe, pep-pe, kak-ke! Hil-lo, hol-lo, hel-lo! Ziz-zy, zuz-zy, zik!

Bottle - Mondial de la Bière, Montréal. Hazy golden body with average white foamy head. Malty/hoppy aroma with honeyish, spicy and coriander hints. Taste carries some citrusy notes and ends with a good bitter/sour finish. Average Saison.

Bottle, Mondial 2009. Clear yellow. Aroma is yeast, bubble gum and spices. Taste is yeasty, spicy and a bit acidic. Good carbonation. A bit dry and bitter on the finish. Nothing really special about it.

Pours an opaque attractive gold with decent head. Peppery, grassy, hints of citrus. Refreshing. Not the most complicated saison ever, but definitely a drinkable one.

Bottle at Mondiale. Pours a hazy honey gold with a thin white head. Aroma is syrupys sweet, honey, toffee, toast, spicy peppery phenolics and citrus zest- very sweet. Flavor is even sweeter and not dry at all- honey, toasted victory malt sweetness, harsh peppery spice, harsh solvent and syrupy finish. Pretty bad.

Tried this beer today and think that it’s pretty decent. It has a bit of an odd flavor. It poured a very transparent yellow with lots of bubbles. The head was an off white color that sort of dissipated quickly. Aroma seemed a bit off, a little funky, I don’t really know what to say about it. The taste was good, sort of a plainer taste not spicy at all or too hoppy. Generally a decent beer. I will have to try this again.

aroma of light yeast funk. appearance is a big disappointment, far too filtered, nearly clear. flavor is extremely peppery, occasionally gets caught in the back of the throat and nearly induces a cough. mouthfeel suffers similarly: comes across a tad thin, where as leaving it more unfiltered would have remedied that. overall this isnt as much of a wreck as my previous sentances might have precluded, on many levels this parallels my favorite authentic saisons from the motherland. its got a ways to go, but nearly there.......

Cloudy pale yellow color with a nice sized head, nice lacing. Sweet citrus aroma, almost skunky, maybe some honey. Banana flavor, smooth, again nearly skunky, maybe some lemon in there as well. Definte wheat/malt flavor in there. Gets better as it warms up. Maybe the bottle I had really was somewhat skunked, hence the low rating. I will have to try this again.
