Commercial Description:
As the story goes, the charm of the Cap hails an otherwise mischievous band of winged-monkeys to carry out any three commands its owner wishes, such as carrying you from vast scarlet poppy fields to Emerald City, or even to the comfort of a country farmhouse. Golden Cap Saison however, brings the comfort to you with its modern interpretation of a traditional farmhouse ale. A soft, pale beer, Golden Cap accentuates the flavors and aromas of summer fields. Brewed with an ancestor to wheat called spelt, and bottle-conditioned; it's straw-colored body accentuated with lively carbonation and unique fermentation profile evoke fresh cut hay and cracked peppercorns. Ep-pe, pep-pe, kak-ke! Hil-lo, hol-lo, hel-lo! Ziz-zy, zuz-zy, zik!

On tap at Capone’s. Poured a medium and clear golden/yellow color with a smaller sized white head. Aromas of yeast, citrus, and spiciness. Tastes of the same yeastiness, citrus, spices, and somewhat fruity.

Pale golden ale with a light haze. For a saison, the head certainly does not beat longevity records despite the active carbonation. Gently spicy, yeasty though not loaded with yeast character nose where a strong cereal character emanates. I would not call it rustic, but it has a certain hay-like graininess with strong wheat component. Its heavier than most maltiness can’t help but bring more residual sugars than I like, but taking it as an American belgian ale rather than a saison where dryness is really important to me, I must reckon I enjoy its refreshing wheaty palate. Soft lemony hops do provide a zesty tang to the otherwise flowery, fruity finish. The initial mouthfeel feels almost crisp with its biting small-bubbled carbonation, but this fades away rather quickly, just like the head and then feels thicker and unfortunately less drinkable. Well, Americans tend to do overspiced and sweet saisons. I appreciate that they avoided this spicy mold. Taking it as a yeasty golden ale, NH Golden Cap enjoyable though its carbonation could be improved and yeast a bit more prominent.

Pours a transparent golden with small-bubbled carbonation and a thin, wispy white head. Aroma of sweet biscuity pale Belgian malt with some light floral notes and a touch of black pepper. Body starts fairly full with a good biscuity malt and wheaty sweetness balanced with good peppery spice and grassy hops. A good and very drinkable American-made saison.

22 oz bottle. Pale golden straw colour with a thick sticky white head. The nose is really lovely. Bright spicy/minty nose with a very lean, crisp crackery maltiness. Spice and light lemony/herbal straw grassiness. Fairly zesty nose. The palate is soft and creamy with a touch of light vanilla. The grassy/hay-like character is quite pronounced and it gives a beer a lovely dry finish. Delicious and quite underrated really.

From the bomber this poured a clear yellow body with a white head that vanished before I decided if it was fizzy, frothy, creamy, or bubbly. It has an aroma of wheat and corn flakes with light spicy and floral scents. Somewhat oily mouthfeel. A soft touch of citric bitterness is added to the flavor. Okay, but not really what I expect from a Saison.
