12 oz bottle
Recent bottling, carved into 10/06
Medium pour in a tulip glass.
Poured a hazy amber with a small foamy quickly diminishing white head.
Smelt of moderate sweet pumpkin with light cloves, and a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.
Taste was upfront moderate bitter sweet pumpkin taste with the medley of spices followed by a light bitter pumpkin/squash taste and a hint of spices on a short/medium light bitter finish. Mouthfeel was light bodied, watery, fizzy, with medium astringency.
Overall, a beer that does a good job showcasing the pumpkin. holdenn (1444), Chicago, Illinois, USA

The nose is lots of vegetables pumpkin and squash, alright but i’m expecting more from these guys. As the beer fills my mouth it’s pumpkin spiced, ginger and nutmeg. Not too bad until it fades, it fades to an astringent lactic tinge. This suddenly turns this into an undrinkable drainpour. I don’t know what happened but this unpalatable. | 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 26, 2006 Bottle. Strong, sweet, wit-ish aroma: a little pumpkin and a lot of spice. Hazy golden pour with an epehemral white head. Spicy taste, not very crisp, medium body. Nice, earthy bitterness. Gourdy with cinnamon, nutmeg, and allspice. Yes, gourdy, but not necessarily pumpkinous. Herby and slightly vegetal, though these notes are constrained to the finish and aftertaste. Compared to the Blue Moon I just spit out, this is a revelation. Dogbrick (2901), Columbus, Ohio, USA

Aroma of pumpkin pie. Medium body with a good amount of pumpkin flavor, along with some caramel malt. The finish is short and lightly spiced. Slightly above average all around. grimreeser (797), Minnesota, USA

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 19, 2006 Pour is average... slightly cloudy amber/gold with a minimal head... lots of lacing as I work my way to the bottom of the glass. Spices come through heaviest in the nose--cinnamon and nutmeg. I’m not sure I’d guess pumpkin if I didn’t know that it was there, but maybe up front, before the spices take control. Flavor is not as heavy on pumpkin as some other beers like this... it’s more of a sweet malt flavor that has the same spices as a good pumpkin pie and is a little light on the pumpkin. It’s there, but a bit more subtle than I expected. The label is a classic... RagallachMC (631), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 18, 2006 bottle. Aroma: some cinnamon and nutmeg up front. Light pumpkin. Slight sweet malt aroma. Appearance: Deep golden in color and clear. Off-white head was full and fothy. No lacing. Flavor: Slightly sweet malt, cinnamon and nutmeg, and light pumpkin. Pumpkin is very subtle for a pumpkin beer. Medium-light bitterness. Nice dry finish. Palate: Medium-light bodied and a little watery. Medium carbonation. Overall: An ok beer, but lacking in pumpkin flavor.
