Jul 21, 2009 Lightly cloudy copper body, frothy off-white head. Aroma is citrus a bit of evergreen. A good malt backbone carries the truckload of hops swishing down towards the gullet. Crisp refreshing palate, alcohol subdued. Quite enjoyable.

Jul 20, 2009 Bomber from Binny’s Beverage Depot in Orland Park, Illinois: This poured an orange/amber body with a medium-sized head. The aroma had pungent pine, grapefruit rind, lemon zest, and a whiff or two of toffee beneath those hop scents. The flavor has a caramel/toffee sweetness on the bottom, but is totally dominated by the hop tastes and bitterness. Nicely lop-sided, this has a dry and prolonged bitter finish. Nice.

Jul 16, 2009 Pours copper with an off-white smallish head. The aroma has lots of floral hops with some funk and is balanced with lots of creamy caramel malt. Thick body with a good amount of semi-soft carbonation. The flavor starts much like the aroma with even more malt - seems like like and IIPA and more like a barleywine. There is some sourness in there as well. The beer gets hotter as it warms up. A fair IIPA.

Jul 15, 2009 Copper colored pour with a small, frothy, white head. Piny, resinous, grapefruit aroma with a nice toffee, toast, and caramel balance. The flavor is lots of very fresh hops lending to a luscious pine, orange, and ruby grapefruit flavor with a great toasty caramel malt background and a hint of cherry. Very nicely balanced. A bit of floralness comes out on the finish too. This is a very refreshing double IPA in that it’s not cloying like so many can be yet still has a nice assertive hop profile without going overboard. The body is full and creamy with gentle carbonation.

Jul 14, 2009 22 ounce bottle from Beer Run in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a clear reddish amber color with a medium head. Decent head retention and lacing. Nice floral hop aroma with citrus and berry notes. Taste is very fruity with citrus, plum and berry notes as well as bitter resiny notes throughout. Medium-full bodied. Two consecutive New Holland beers that didn’t disappoint... I’m shocked!

Jul 14, 2009 Without being overbearing, a nice flavorful IPA that one ups the regular Mad Hatter. Lacking intensity of many Imperial IPAs and that is a good thing. Tasty.

Jul 13, 2009 A copper colored beer with a large fluffy tan head. Lots of unique tiny bubbles rise to the surface. Thick, sticky lacing. Nose is grapefruit dominated with lesser amounts of caramel. This brewer threw a strike with this beer and it is down the middle and very hittable. It is in style and tasty. Full of hops with plenty of citrus, and tons of pine flavors. Gobs of sweetness. Some wood and spice. Nice bitterness. Still, nothing here is huge and is even understated, including the alcohol. That makes this DIPA very easy to drink.
