Commercial Description:
Night Tripper is an Imperial Stout brewed for a Fat Tuesday release. Dark, mysterious and poetic, Night Tripper's abundance of roasted malts, combined with flaked barley create a rich, roasty beer with deeply intense and lush flavors. Night Tripper's layered, nuanced tones invite intrigue and reward a curious palate.

Courtesy mgumby10. Pours a very dark mahogany brown color with a frothy, tan head. Sudsy lacing leaves random spotting behind. Aromas are rich and sweet, with notes of caramel and chocolate fudge dominating. Flavors are similarly simple, yet inviting. Chocolate and caramel again rise above all else, with traces of vanilla and nougat emerging in the background. There is a faint, dark, indiscernible fruitiness there as well. Medium-full bodied, smooth, and creamy, the mouthfeel is really nice. Overall, this is far from complex, but very enjoyable nonetheless.

22 oz. bottle. Pours oily black with a few bubbles that slowly grows to a thin tan head. The aroma is heavy on the dark chocolate, medium roast, with moderate sweetness and a touch of dark fruit. The flavor is fairly big: dark chocolate, roasted malts, moderate caramel sweetness, and hints of vanilla. The alcohol becomes apparent as it warms, but is not too distracting. Smooth and a little chewy.

Thanks to Jason for this one. Black body. Aroma of sugary cocoa, chocolate frosting, very fudgy. Flavor of licorice, chocolate, light roast. Very sweet.

650 ml. Opaque with a one-finger head that tries to last. Chocolate, coffee, cream, date, and maybe some cherry in the aroma. Bittersweet, complex flavors of coffee with cream, cocoa, orange, black strap molasses, prunes, cured tobacco, dried hickory, a touch of alcohol, oak, and slight iron. Heavy body is smooth, finishes dry, and has just the right mouthfeel (not too syrupy-sticky and not too watery).

In short: An alcoholised Imperial Stout. Brutal and too simple
How: Tap at Graydon’s Crossing (Grand Rapids, Michigan)
The look: Black body with a short-lived tan head
In long: Roasted body. A single-malt/bourbon flavour although I’m pretty sure this is barrel aged. Medium-bodied which isn’t enough but such a high abv beer. Alcohol is very much apparent and kills every subtlety the beer may have had. Just a big brutal Night Tripper without class like that drunk dude that always wants to pick-up fight when the bars close.

Bottle. Black with a tight tan head. Big chocolate malt/coffee aroma with toasted grains. Medium body. Nice flavor is dusty black malts with coffee and a hint of tobacco; nice alcohol sting in the finish.

Bottle @ ORL throwdown, courtesy of mgumby10. Thick black with some brown around the edges, thin tan head. Aromas on this are great. Brown sugar, chocolate, coffee, some rich almost fruity malts. Much the same in the mouth. Sweet with sugary malts and chocolate, coffee. Hops not very noticeable in this one. Well-bodied and smooth. Enjoyable stout! Overall big on malt sweetness and low on hops.

Black with tinges of brown and a smaller sized head. Smells of malts, alcohol, warmth, coffee, and chocolate. Taste is roasty, coffee, and chocolate.
