Commercial Description:
Night Tripper is an Imperial Stout brewed for a Fat Tuesday release. Dark, mysterious and poetic, Night Tripper's abundance of roasted malts, combined with flaked barley create a rich, roasty beer with deeply intense and lush flavors. Night Tripper's layered, nuanced tones invite intrigue and reward a curious palate.

Bottle @ Coles Michigan Beer Tasting. Pours a deep jet black. Very roasty aroma. Extremely rich beer, very roasty flavor. Malted milk balls, dark chocolate notes. Medium to fuller bodied with somewhat strange aftertaste. Decent

2008-05-30. Black body is near headless but for a small brown ring. Modest sweet malt aroma, muted alcohol and roast. Flavour is sweet rich malt with light bitterness from the hops and roast malt that grows linearly across the palate, lingering long into the aftertaste. Smooth medium to full body. Simple but solid, leaves a lasting rich dark malt impression. Nice. Bottle, Mondial, Montreal, 4T

Sampled ’08 BSAF. Beer is very dark brown, nearly opaque. Head is small, light brown, frothy; mostly and quickly diminishing.
The aroma is malty with moderate notes of cookie, roasted grain, light note of chocolate; Hoppy with light note of resin/pine, trace of straw; Yeasty with light notes of basement, under-ripe banana; Light/moderate notes of cherry/dark fruit/current, alcohol and ozone.
The flavor is heavily sweet, lightly bitter, light/moderate acidic with a long, warm, moderately/heavily sweet, lightly acidic, trace bitter finish. Sappy retros.
The body is medium/full, the texture is velvety/syrupy and the carbonation is softer than average.

Pours pitch black, with a small, light brown head. Smells of thick, rich, roasty malts, chocolate and caramel notes, and raisins. The flavor is very sweet, with quite an alcohol presence linked to it. Lots of thick molasses and syrupy malts join forces with the powerful chocolate, to give this beer a very thick consistency and rich mouthfeel. This was much better than I had hoped for from this brewery. Very nice brew.

Bottle. Dark, opaque pour with a thin tan head. Coffee, chocolate, hops, banana in the nose. Sweet smelling. Bitter hoppiness, round finish. Acrid smokiness and fairly tannic. Minimally boozy but warming in the chest. Sweet again. Tasty but not well balanced. Silky but oily palate.
