Commercial Description:
Night Tripper is an Imperial Stout brewed for a Fat Tuesday release. Dark, mysterious and poetic, Night Tripper's abundance of roasted malts, combined with flaked barley create a rich, roasty beer with deeply intense and lush flavors. Night Tripper's layered, nuanced tones invite intrigue and reward a curious palate.

22oz bottle acquired in a few trades. Its been one of those days at work, so I grabbed the 1st beer in my cellar that I saw was over 10%. Now to start the numbing of the pain of working with a bunch of *****s. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, coffee, and some molasses. Tastes of dark fruits (raisins), caramel, chocolate, vanilla, light roast, and light coffee. Brown sugary sweet too. Light alcohol in the finish but overall well hidden.

[bottle] Pours black with a small tan head. Very sweet aroma of candi sugar, as well as roasted barley. Flavor is overly sweet, with some bitterness coming through on the finish. Mouthfeel is rich, but still just too sweet for me.

Bottle: Dark brown near black with a big tan head. Aroma is roasty and choco filled with some light bitters. Taste retains a lot of roastiness, chocolate, coffee, and into some bittersweetness. A bit hot still. I would love to age one... maybe compare it to a Stone RIS? The mouthful was excellent in richness and body. Thanks Jeremy!

Bottle: Black with a nice tan head. Nose of light soy, vegetal roast, plums and alcohol, some modest american hops. The flavor is balanced, sweet, acidic and astringent in just the right amounts. Strong alcohol tail. Not overly complex but it’s got a solid body and malt background. Yummy molasses and vanilla notes. Good Impy!

Pours a nice dark black and allows some light through in the pour. Looks pretty viscous. The head is nonexistent, with some stirring produces a fizzy light light tan head. The aroma is very rich, sweet, molasses, brown sugar, roasty, chocolate, coffee, alcohol. The flavor is very rich, sweet, roasty, waxy, molasses, brown sugar, coffee, alcohol is very warm. Nice viscous mouthfeel. Finishes very warm with some roast and residual sweetness. Pretty good RIS.

The color was dark brown/black. The head was very thin, fizzy, and light beige. The aroma was coffee, roasty, sweet, molasses, and alcohol. The flavor was alcohol, malty, chocolate, roasty, coffee, and molasses. The palate was full-bodied with no carbonation. The finish was warm.

Bottle acquired via trade from dchmela. Black in the belly, mahogany around the edges, the fine caramel-colored bubbles rise slowly after an aggressive pour. Flavors of dark chocolate covered espresso beans, vanilla, and campfire smoke. Alcohol shows up rather late but is there. Slippery, not creamy mouthfeel. Overall a winner. Nicely done!!! THANKS AGAIN DAVE!!!

Black beer. Loads of malt and a little sweet. Thick, rich palate, but the sweet malt flavor with the heavily roasted, almost burnt grain doesn’t work for me.
