| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 3, 2008 With almost no head and a black-as-night hue, this Imperial has a lightly licorice-like aroma with pineapple and burnt toast accents. The actual flavor is robust and warm; a light carbonation makes it heavy and lingering on the palate, spreading its mallty and floral flavors, resulting in a deep, bitter finish.
Night Tripper would be an excellent accompaniment to a pot roast and rosemary potatoes. Shag (1923), Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Apr 2, 2008 A black apperance with a moderate tan head. The aroma really showcases the alcohol along with some chocolate, charcoal, and dark fruit. Oh and coffee. The flavor is not as alcohol filled as the aroma is. Some chocolate, coffee, and licorice. The mouthfeel is oddly grainy. Overall a very nice Imperial Stout. performula (147), Triangle Area, North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Apr 1, 2008 Once again. This NH brew could be so much better with carbonation. This beer is more balanced than their Dragon’s Milk. Softer as well. I was surprised by the percentage of this beer as it is covered extremely well. Pours a flat cola color with no head what so ever. Good scent of roasted chocolate. Flavors of Chocolate, vanilla, and some fruitness. dmac (1500), Toms River, New Jersey, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Bottle thanks to yobdoog, thanks for sharing Trevor. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head. Aroma of coffee and chocolate, not quite as strong or roasty as other Impys, possibly from being on the cold side. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Flavor is on the sweet side with notes of coffee, dark chocolate and finsishes with some notable hop bitterness. Highly drinkable and hides the 10.8% very nicely. brewblackhole (1385), Muskego, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 30, 2008 Have often been disappointed with New Holland products,as we have found the quality inconsistent, and the new things they try often come out muddled. Not this one. aroma is like being in a kitchen where someone has a fresh pot of coffee going and is also baking a chocolate cake, very appealing, taste again is like fresh chocolate frosting washed down with fresh brewed coffee, roastedness aplenty, choclate and hop bitterness in finish , Smooth and chewy, doesn’t display 10.8 muscle. Very impressive thanks Kingpin ChainGangGuy (2597), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Appearance: Pours a dark brown, near black body with a thin, wispy tan head.
Smell: Alluring aroma of roasted barley, sweetened coffee, dark chocolate, and maybe a bit of booze.
Taste: Roasted barley with a rich malty sweetness. Fresh roasted coffee beans and chocolate. Dash of heavy cream. Earthy bitterness. Dry roastiness on the smooth finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: A yummy, full-flavored impy stout from New Holland. fiver29 (730), Cleveland, Ohio, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 29, 2008 Bottle pours a dark black color with tan head. Mouthfeel is medium and laces as you drink it. Smells like a roasted chocolate bar. Nice. Tastes like a roasty toasty brew and unfortunately does not get better as you drink it. biggenius29 (155), Hamilton, Michigan, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 29, 2008 22 oz bottle poured into a snifter. Pours black with a small light brown quickly fading head leaving poor lacing. The aroma is of heavy roasted malts, along with light coffee, no hop aroma, slight alcohol aroma. Taking a drink, Huge roasted malts, followed up by heavy coffee. A light bitterness in the end. The palate is medium to heavy with soft carbonation. Overall, it is alright, way to much roasted malts for me, it was almost to bitter from the malts.
