hopdog (4380), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA May 8, 2008 22oz bottle acquired in a few trades. Its been one of those days at work, so I grabbed the 1st beer in my cellar that I saw was over 10%. Now to start the numbing of the pain of working with a bunch of *****s. Poured a dark brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of chocolate, roast, coffee, and some molasses. Tastes of dark fruits (raisins), caramel, chocolate, vanilla, light roast, and light coffee. Brown sugary sweet too. Light alcohol in the finish but overall well hidden.
Retorp (2142), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 19, 2008 Courtesy of Gilliard. Very roasty, chocolate and dark fruit accented aroma. The alcohol is up front. Very smooth and drinkable despite a being very thick bodied. The flavor is big and highlighted by dark fruit, burnt caramel, dark chocolate and roast. Very solid beer. Ibrew2or3 (1606), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Courtesy of gillard bringing the goods yet again. Thanks man. Pours dark brown with amber edges and mocha head. The aroma is roasty malts becoming mildly coffee to go along with some burnt malts, chocolate and a bit of booze. Yum. Chewy, viscous, wow. A bit better tasting than it smells even. I get sweet malts and caramel that roll downhill toward roasty to burnt malts, some tasty vanilla and caramel. It gets very rich and dark chocolaty. Nice stuff.
