BBB63 (4199), La Porte, Indiana, USA Aug 6, 2008 2008 MiBGF: Coppery hue with an okay head and lace. The aroma has notes of citric and resiny hops, herbs, slight smoke and chalky yeast esters. The taste starts with hop bitterness with a bready malt undertone. The finish is a moderate combination of spice and smoke. The mouth feel has a chalky dryness and soft lush nature. The smoke is restrained and nothing stands out. Tmoney99 (4656), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA Jul 21, 2008 Draft at brewpub. Poured clear copper with an average fizzy white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate sour citrus and small smoke aroma. Medium body with a slick texture. Medium smokey biitersweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. This beer goes well with spicy food. drewbeerme (2224), Chicago, Illinois, USA Jul 6, 2008 on tap at NH brewpub. pours hazed amber with white head. aroma is a bit smoked meaty, passion fruit hop notes. flavor is pretty smokey, meaty, bitter, citrus, fruits, biscuity. i’m enjoying this slightly smoked ipa! my favorite of the Hatter series.
