Commercial Description:
Sundog is an ale whose amber color is as deep as the copper glow of a Lake Michigan sunset. Its Biscuit malt and Fuggle hops give it a toasty character and a subtle, malty sweetness. We believe Sundog is the deepest, richest amber you'll find anywhere.

12 oz bottle. Basically accepting everything that comes from this brewery is average at best. Lucid is very good. but this is OK. nice looking but no balls. mild maltiness & hop bitterness. Disappointed i bought a case

Dark orange pour with a large fizzy head and an aroma of, among other things, slightly sour bread dough. I guess that’s the ’biscuit malt’ talking. Commercial description is accurate, it does have a malty sweetness but I’m not picking up someof the flavors bragged buy other reviewers "tobacco", and "Orange Crush"...sorry, none of that there. But not a bad amber.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Cellar’s Wine & Spirits in St Paul, MN. Pours a clear light coppery amber brew with a thin white head that quickly dissolves to a fine film. Aroma of caramel malt, some citrus zest and some grassy/herbal hops. Taste is medium bodied, lightly carbonated with flavors of sweet caramel malt, slight tobacco, roasted nuts and some citrus. Finish is smooth, slightly carbonated with a slight bitterness and roasted nut aftertaste. An average amber ale.

An amber tinted orange pour. Fruit cocktail sprinkled with sugar and punchy pineapple juice on the nose. Unbridled, cheeky sweetness is already apparent. Tastes of fruit gum with dry and grainy sugars, mandarin oranges. With a very sprightly carbonation this lends itself more toward a citrus soda hybrid of orange crush and sprite. An underwater hint of biscuity malt arrives more certainly on the smack. The remnant is not so bad. Rather thin in the mouth, and tired in general. Strange. Thanks for sharing, Bob!

Appearance: Pours a clearish amber body with a foamy white head. Smell: Light aroma of toasted malts and equally light hops. Taste: Caramel malts and, ugh, unfortunately what I suspect to be a little DMS (and a little DMS goes a long way). Mouthfeel: Medium-thin. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: Its no wonder that Sundog looks so forlorn and inconsolable.

12 oz bottle. Very little aroma. Very little head. Nice flavor, mildly bitter, with a hint of sweetness. I read some reviewers said a toffee flavor, I guess that could be it. Good carbonation, and good lingering bitterness. Overall enjoyable beer.

Terrible amber. Aroma was nil. Pour was a flat orange with no head. Taste was very weak. Toffee and caramel is there but not very recognizable. Just a bland beer..

Slight hint of biscuits and sweetness in the aroma, pours amber with a touch of red, and no head. An interesting taste, a touch of sweetness and buttermilk biscuits to start, blending with a bitterness and a touch of the taste of must. Drinkable, but I’ve had better.
