Commercial Description:
Sundog is an ale whose amber color is as deep as the copper glow of a Lake Michigan sunset. Its Biscuit malt and Fuggle hops give it a toasty character and a subtle, malty sweetness. We believe Sundog is the deepest, richest amber you'll find anywhere.

Sampled draft on tap at the brewpub (Holland, MI). Pours a bright copper hue, decent offwhite head that fades to a film and clings to the glass. Aromas are lightly caramel and biscuity malt ip front with light florals. Initial mirrors this, easily sessionable with a decent balance, if anything a little underwhelming hopwise. Still a decent sessioner, just falls into the fold though.

pours a vivid orange sienna with a light-orange/tan head. lots of lacing. nose is sweet, lots of fresh fruit and malty swetness. the flavor is bready, toasty, malty, lots of grain, but in a good way. light sweetness, light citrus hops. dry, almost astringent finish. pretty good!

(Bottle courtesy of Headbanger) - Color is a orange amber with a slight haze. Carbonation is good but it creates only a thin little head. Aroma is a nice caramel scent with a faint roasted back note. Taste is thin and sharp. Starting with a light medium body it goes down with a crisp feel. Finish is a sharp malty caramel taste with a touch of hop spiciness and an even bitterness. After taste is dry with a little more bitterness. This is an OK brew, not one of the better Amber I’ve had and defiantly not the deepest, richest amber to be found anywhere.

Pour from 12oz bottle. Deep copper / amber color. Thin but persistent head and clings to the sides of the glass as the beer is drained. Wonderfully rich and complex aroma – malt, hops, floral, butterscotch – all there. Very tasty. A fine amber ale.

look alright the start is kinda weak but the finish is where all the caramel amber goodness comes out. hoppiness is in the back seat yet proper enough for multiple pints at the pub.

The aroma is nothing outstanding but pleasant with toffee, brown sugar, paper, hops, butterscotch, and caramel malt. The appearance is dark amber with a small head. The flavor is like the aroma with a butterscotch and herbal hop finish. The palate is smooth. Overall a good beer but a just a little off tasting.

12oz bottle 4/13/09-Pours a hazy orangish amber with a small white head. Aroma of malt with some hops thrown in. Taste begins with malt then comes in some hops and it finishes with a nice dryness. This medium bodied brew is very smooth and well balanced. Nice job.
