Commercial Description:
This stout is sheer beer poetry. Let it warm to about 45 F and pour it into a glass to fully experience its rich, roasty flavors and hints of coffee and chocolate. One glass and you'll agree: The Poet is truly a rich, creamy brew of epic proportions.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of chocolate, cocoa, Hershey’s syrup, slight malted milk, fudge, and hints of toffee and roasting. Poured brown ruby in color with a tiny brown head that lasted around the edges. Cloudy. Not sparkling. Full of tiny particles throughout. Flavor is medium sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of chocolate, roasted malts, cream, Hershey’s syrup, slight wood, slight oats, slight toffee, and cocoa. Light to medium body. Creamy texture is thin. Soft to average carbonation. Sweet, thin, chocolate and cream finish.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. NHTP pours very dark brown with a smallish off-white head that settles quickly. It has an aroma of burnt popcorn, oak and coffee. The body is a little watery for a stout. The flavor is nice and enjoyable if a bit boring. Charcoal sweetened with chocolate is the predominate taste. The finish lingers with a carbonated hop-filled bitterness. This is an average beer and falls short of my local favorite, Schlafly Oatmeal Stout.

I don’t drink many session stouts, but I won’t have any problem with the next five of these dark, sweet, and roasty mother(ahem)’s.

Bottle. Roasty malt aroma. Black body, creamy light brown head. Very roasty flavor, mostly coffee, with some bitter chocolate, a touch of sweetness. Finish is light and nicely bitter. Very pleasant.

A creamy tan head set atop an opaque, black brew. Rich and smooth. The malt flavors dominatedwith just a hint of balancing hops. It was lighter than I expected from a stout. It went down easily. Not much of an aftertaste.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a medium tan head. Very nutty aroma with some chocolate and oatmeal notes as well. Taste is nutty with roasted malts and some vegetal notes. Medium bodied.

Not a whole lot to it. A bit dry, but a smooth pour/light body. Easy drinking
